The Mega Dim Sum

I must apologize for not being able to meet any readers so far. I have a lot of family members in Toronto and since this is my first time here, they all want to see me. As much as I want to do a meet and greet with Toronto readers, family has to come first. Yesterday, all the relatives gathered together at the Very Fair Chinese Seafood Restaurant for a mega dim sum fest. And I do mean fest!
We had over 30 family members showed up to sample over 100 dim sum dishes. Many of the dim sum dishes were off the menu items because the owner of the restaurant kept making up new items for us to try. I almost felt like a Ginnie pig.
Being a Sunday, the restaurant was jam packed, with a line up going out the door. Lucky for us we made reservations the day before. Normally, you still have to wait even if you make reservation, but our tables were reserved and waiting for us when we arrive. No doubt the owner heard I was in town and wanted to lay on the VIP treatment. You don’t want to know how much Dim Sum for 30+ cost. Here’s a sampling of some of the dishes.

Oh man, you are eating up a storm. How does it compare to Ricemond dim sum?
Reply to this commentAaaaugh !! John, you’re killin’ me!!!
Now I’ve got to go to Chinatown to get me some dimsum.
ps where is “Very Fair” anyway?
Reply to this commentHe’s trying to make us not only ‘evil’ but also putting on some pounds … haha

Reply to this commentI’ve never had dim sum. I bet it’s good though.
Reply to this commentSome of the stuff looks yummy and some kinda what I’d be afraid to try

I think I would try it anyway, because it might be tasty
Reply to this commentI love your site. I’ve been coming everyday so I put you in my top 5 Blogs Rising at Blogger-Rising.Blogspot.Com. I used to work at 5 Spice in Burlington, VT and they had a great Sunday Dim Sum. The owners sold it and the place nearly burned down but I got a great picture of the neon DimSum sign blinking in the rain. Check it out, I’ll post it right now. Thanks again for your great advice.

My mouth is watering… Those prawns and spiffy, round, poofy white eggy yellow things look tasty too. Sorry about my technical language - food experts generall use such complicated phrases.
Reply to this commentWho picked up the tab??? You John???
Reply to this commentMaybe the restaurant owner provided it for free in exchange for publicity?
Reply to this commentI wouldn’t be surprised anymore if that were the case; probably the same guy who gave John that hot GPS device, too!
Reply to this commentMy bet is John did
Reply to this commentPretty cool to have the owner giving you new stuff. Though I have to say very little of it looks appetizing to me. Then again I have pretty bland tastes
It’s great that you were able to see so much family at once
I’m sure the Toronto readers understand.
Glad to see you’re enjoying the vacation John!
Reply to this commentYeah! What are those things wrapped in leaves John?
Reply to this commentFamily first! that’s the best policy

Reply to this commentI love the variety of Chinese food out in Toronto! YUM!
Reply to this commentThere is a Chinese place in the small town I live , and people come from Toronto (about an hour away) to try the food.
It’s not really traditional I don’t think, more like Chinese food turned into fast food heh
Reply to this commentLooks real good. Even the squid.
Reply to this comment30 family members? Wow!
Reply to this commentI like my food but that looks bloody awful!
Reply to this commentMust be funny eating with you john, coz before you can touch the food the camera gets passed round to take these lovely snapshots!
Reply to this commentI enjoy Chinese food, but must admit haven’t seen any dishes like that in my little city of Charlottetown … must make a note to try some on my next business venture to Toronto.
Reply to this commentsome times i tink you do this on bad proposit, or like we say at central america “solo por joder”
Reply to this commentIt’s amazing you can make money taking pictures of dim sum! Who would of guessed.
Reply to this commentThat’s because John = evil
Reply to this commentI would only eat pics 1,8 & 9. John you eat some weird stuff!
Reply to this commentI don’t know what all of that stuff is, but would you fund a trip for me so I can try every last thing there? It looks so…different and has such an odd look to it, but my GOD it looks like it’d be delicious.
Reply to this commentI have to agree with DormEarning. That food really does look good.
Reply to this commentThe very first dish, I was drooling . Then I scrolled down to the rest and it went downhill from there.
Reply to this commentIt wasn’t that bad, expand your horizons!
Reply to this commentI wonder what’s inside the leaf wraps…other than that, I think they all look tasty. The 9th dish isn’t chicken feet, is it?
Reply to this commentYummy! It’s been a while since I last had dim sum, I think it was in HK
Reply to this commentI consider dim sum to be a comfort food; there’s chocolate, there’s mama’s good old home cooking, there’s fast food, and then there’s dim sum.
Reply to this commentMore food posts, I am surprised you aren’t fat.
Reply to this commentyeah, i was always wondering about that. the only idea i came to is that John only pictures the food and stay behind eating some healthy versions of these menus
Reply to this commentBurgers, tartare, dips…John sure loves his beef though. For someone as evil as he is, I don’t think he even has time to stick to “just healthy.”
Reply to this commentHey, I love Chinese food. I’ve spent some time in China and I was really impressed with the taste, aroma and variety of their meals. And it is something strange: no matter how much you eat, you don’t get fat.
Reply to this commentI think it’s because their food are relatively healthier compared to Western cuisine. That, and they walk a lot — I hear it’s great exercise.
Reply to this commentWow! That’s awesome feast you have there!
You r so evil, John!
The looks of these pics just make my stomach growls again!
Reply to this commentWhat kind of shit is show on pics? I would not yeat that shit even its free. Disgusting!
Reply to this commentLooking good, man.
