The Pro Blogging Life

Zero to $10,000 Fast!

Ever wanted to see what happens in the life of a pro blogger? This video will tell you. Truth be told, not much happens. Because my blog is fully automated, I can go away for an 8-day training session, and the blog will continue to run and make money.

The video below shows how long it takes me to run my blog when I’m away from home. It wasn’t always like this, of course. Over the years, I’ve discovered many technics and tools to make the blog run on autopilot. The most important of which is the WordPress timestamp and an awesome line-up of writers. Enjoy the video, and yes, I do make over $1,000 per blog post. :)

Hey John,

Always good to hear your advice. Think our blog might be a little different though as it’s a humanitarian site. Do you reckon your rules will work the same way?
Do you think it will take 2 years for us to become known?

Cheers,
Glynne

That all depends on your ability to promote your blog and get mainstream press coverage. But I’ve seen people done it in less than a year.

John,

I have the Verizon iPad 3 as well, but I don’t have the area in the Settings to make the iPad a personal hotspot. How is yours different?

Anyway, love the slice of life videos!

Chris

John Chow June 25, 2012 at 10:34 pm

It’s in the setting, directly under Wi-Fi. Here’s a screen shot: http://cl.ly/2d3B3N172z240i3G0C13

Thanks for the reply, John.

Mine doesn’t show that. Is your jailbroken or did you download a special app just for that?

I would LOVE to have the hotspot ability on my Verizon iPad.

Thanks!

Chris

No jailbreak. This is a standard feature of Verizon. You should have it. If not, then make sure you’re running the latest iOS and resync with iTunes and it should be there.

Great peek into the life. The biggest thing is the ability to stay on top of it. Even for someone who’s passionate about it like I am, it’s easy to get distracted by everything else in life and let the blog get ignored for a few days.

While I’m between jobs, I’m trying to ramp everything up and work on schedules so that posts happen every day and I’m hoping to finally get back to BW/NMX again in January.

Thank you so much for giving me an update on this subject matter on your website. Please be aware that if a brand new post appears or in the event that any changes occur to the current publication, I would be thinking about reading more and learning how to make good utilization of those methods you share. Thanks for your efforts and consideration of other folks by making your blog available.

Regards,

Umar

Sweet.

Hi John,
This was a particularly enjoyable post because it was video and because it showed you doing some of the “real” and perhaps less glamorous aspects of blogging. Thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong here, but I suspect that your previous job as an internet marketer has almost everything to do with your unusual success at making money by blogging.

Always enjoyable to hear about what you’re up to!

Steve Zussino - Canadian Coupons June 26, 2012 at 12:30 pm

John, have you considered posting more than once per day to make more $$?

John Chow June 26, 2012 at 3:27 pm

I value my time more than money.

Great video, now that’s a life of pro blogger John Chow.
Which program do you use to handle all of your password on Chrome?
thanks for sharing

John Chow June 26, 2012 at 3:18 pm

1password.com. It used to be Mac only but they have a PC version now.

Omid June 26, 2012 at 8:52 pm

Hi John,

Amazing video. I like the way you honestly talk about your business.

BTW, I like that you can have internet 4G connection everywhere you go. I should get one of those from Verizon.

Thanks,
~ Omid

John Chow June 26, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Ya, the iPad works better than those 4G hostspot thingy. I can get 24 hour of use when running the iPad as a hotspot.

Richard June 27, 2012 at 3:42 am

I love the iPad 4G hotspot thing. Back here in the UK we are in the mobile internet stone age and it will probably be several years before 4G is rolled out fully. I was over in the states last week and was amazed at how much faster my internet connection was.

DylanC June 27, 2012 at 8:43 pm

That is an awesome figure to make. And you make 2 blog posts per day right?

Mike June 28, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Thiss is cool.

Whitney July 4, 2012 at 3:48 pm

I loved the video. People think probloggers have this crazy life lol. It’s really cool to get some insight on how you run your blog John, your tips always are very helpful to me, I’ve learned a lot from you.
