A huge congrats goes out to Stephanie at Poorer Than You for winning a signed copy of The 4-Hour Workweek. This has been my most successful contest yet, with over 350 replies!

If you didn’t win this time, don’t worry, I’ll be giving away another signed copy of Timothy Feeriss’ bestselling book this Wednesday. Keep an eye out for it. I should think up more creative ways to enter than just by replying to a post. Any ideas?

Congrats to Stephanie once again. I hope the book will allow you to start a new blog call Richer Than You or Work Less Than you.

cooliojones July 23, 2007 at 12:24 pm

simon July 23, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Yep, that’s right. When I became one of Top Commentators, I got some free traffic too

Lewis Empire July 23, 2007 at 11:24 pm

a video a day July 24, 2007 at 9:33 am

same here, i think john doesn’t like me

maybe i’m too pretty for him

Rhys July 23, 2007 at 10:42 am

350 eh?!

I tell you what John, how about instead of replying to one of your comments, why not get them to reply to one of my posts instead?!?!

cooliojones July 23, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Ok Rhys, if that’s an invitation, we’re coming on over! :D

a video a day July 24, 2007 at 9:34 am

hmm, i’m not sure john would do that, unless you’re giving out some cool stuff

simon July 23, 2007 at 2:14 pm

Hahaha  Good idea. How about my blog :!:

Graham Lutz, The Young Capitalist July 23, 2007 at 10:42 am

a video a day July 24, 2007 at 9:36 am

i think the book’s worth reading after reading john’s review about the book

shaun July 23, 2007 at 10:52 am

Congrats hopefully you put that to good use :)

Bloggeries July 23, 2007 at 11:07 am

Well I’m abit upset that I didn’t win but glad to see it went to a good cause such as someone running a blog called “poorer than you”.

cooliojones July 23, 2007 at 12:28 pm

Makes you wonder…what happens when she isn’t poorer than us? That should be a great website title!

Lewis Empire July 23, 2007 at 11:25 pm

She sells her blog for a few hundred thousand as starts one called “richer than you”

Sabrina's Money Matters July 23, 2007 at 11:17 am

Shouldn’t you have told her to party hard instead of living hard?

Although the autograph in itself is awesome….

 Maybe next time I’ll win!

Luka July 23, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Yup, you’r right ! People should partymore an live less :

Lewis Empire July 23, 2007 at 11:26 pm

If you live less then by definition you will not be able to party as long! You need to live more AND party more.

John Chow July 23, 2007 at 5:16 pm

Live hard, not work hard.

Freebies July 23, 2007 at 11:19 am

Congrats Stephanie! I think after she reads it, she should then give it away to me :) July 23, 2007 at 11:26 am

Even if you didnt win you should buy this book! It is a great read…

web development blog July 23, 2007 at 8:50 pm

I’ve got mine on hold at the library :) - $100,000 in one year July 23, 2007 at 11:27 am

Re-contest it :-)

cooliojones July 23, 2007 at 11:16 pm

Hopefully she’ll read it first!

simply July 23, 2007 at 11:36 am

I’ll thinks it’s to many contests this days, every blog have them. I see you have 350 replies on the last one. that’s a very small part of your readers. Maybe the rest of us thinks it’s boring. tell us more about what you think about the contest future. If you are a contest looser you can get a free spock (the new search engine, everybody talk about) membership at my blog

John Chow July 23, 2007 at 5:17 pm

Let’s see, when I make a normal post I get less than 100 comments, which is an even smaller part of my readership. You think they’re even more bored? Your logic needs work.

simply July 24, 2007 at 2:46 am

Yes, you have more replies,3% versus 1%, thats good, but most of the readers never replies. and most of the repliers are positiv anyway, but I wonder do the the people that never replies like the contests or are they coming to you to read about something else.

BrittMalka July 27, 2007 at 12:07 am

I guess you would never know the answer to that question, since you are asking people who never replies

But I like some of the contests. Others don’t interest me. But that’s okay. I’m free to read, what I want, and so are everybody else. Nobody forces you to read or answer.

bob cobb July 23, 2007 at 11:42 am

Damn, Ill have to go to the bookstore and check this book out now

Mybloggo July 23, 2007 at 11:54 am

congrats Stephanie…….

P/s : Hope i can win at next contest

Digitalcameratips July 23, 2007 at 12:14 pm

First of all congrats to Stephanie.

>>I should think up more creative ways to enter than just by replying to a post. Any ideas?

Digitalcameratips July 23, 2007 at 12:19 pm

somehow my comment didn’t make it into the blog, anyway here it is again:

As I was not able to enter the contest via firefox after it had added up 250 comments, I had to switch to Internet Explorer (which I didn’t like to do, but wanted to have the book).
Why not make the challenge to us even harder by switching the medium? We could send you a postcard.
But pls take into account that international submissions take a little longer (about 7 days by airmail from Europe)

cooliojones July 24, 2007 at 7:15 am

That is an interesting idea. It takes more dedication to do something that way versus typing off a quick comment.

Webmaster Money July 23, 2007 at 12:18 pm

Not me again, well next time.

Dog Information July 23, 2007 at 12:19 pm

I didn’t win. =(

Joshua July 23, 2007 at 12:52 pm

I really expected to win. I feel let down and I’m not sure I’ll ever return… :D

simon July 23, 2007 at 2:20 pm

I’m sure you will return because I never won a price but I’m still here  Let’s wait for another contest coming.

Terra Andersen July 23, 2007 at 1:44 pm

Congrats to Stephanie! It’s a good book, you’ll enjoy it! *=)

Dave July 23, 2007 at 2:04 pm

I’m not so sure about the text of the signature. Why ‘live hard’ if you are working a 4-hour week? Congrats to the winner though

Scam July 23, 2007 at 2:12 pm

JC – “I should think up more creative ways to enter than just by replying to a post. Any ideas?”

How about a competition to see who can be photographed in the most unusual place, wearing a T-shirt with ‘Make money online with’ printed on it?

Sam Breadstone July 23, 2007 at 2:32 pm

Damn! I never win anything,

Steven July 23, 2007 at 2:35 pm

Congrats Stephanie! I hope I win the next one ^_~

chtanxw July 23, 2007 at 3:31 pm

One person , 350+++,

Celebrienne July 23, 2007 at 4:09 pm

Here’s my idea for your next contest, John. Get the people taking photos of them holding a piece of paper which reads “I love John Chow” or “John, I want to win XYZ!” or a combination of both. :)

The entrants could send the pictures to you or post them on their own blogs and you choose the funniest, coolest or craziest picture.

If I had something to give away to my readers, that’s how I’d do it. Guess this would definitely get you some buzz juice.

If you like my idea, give me some link love when you do your next contest and accept me as your almighty contest goddess. Yay! Deal?

40hourstogo July 23, 2007 at 4:10 pm

As evil as you are, why haven’t you started to auction a book off? Or give one to your biggest supplier of “buy me a beer”.

Thomas De Maesschalck July 23, 2007 at 7:07 pm

Congratz Stephanie

Dan July 23, 2007 at 10:36 pm

How could I not win? I actually entered this one. I think…

Stephen Welton July 24, 2007 at 2:38 am

In regards to the next way to get going on a contest how about Video Entries with text linking along side it. This way you can have a variety of video to choose from, the readers can generate some traffic due to RSS subscribers having to poke their heads onto the pages (you tipped me off to that) and then everyone gets a chance to win. Then do up a post with the winners and share the love to the people who entered. It might be a win all around and a bit of work but the Buzz would be good.

Keeping on Booking It Up!

Congrats Step

Wahlau.NET July 24, 2007 at 7:17 pm
