The first day of ThinkTank opened with a meet and greet from all the attendees. Zac and I weren’t able to make that since our plane didn’t land until about noon. We also missed the surfing lessons, which is just as well since the only thing I surf is the Internet.
ThinkTank is unlike any conference I’ve ever attended. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone is extremely friendly, outgoing and willing to share. The location is awesome. The ThinkTank tent is located right on the beach in Del Mar, California. In addition to talking shop, there’s food, drinks, games, massages, speed dating, Nurf guns, ping pong and a bunch of other stuff to see and do. If you didn’t make it to ThinkTank this year, you should plan to be here in 2011. The quality of the attendees and networking opportunities are second to none.

One of the most common complaint (or excuse) I hear from potential new bloggers is they don’t know how to install WordPress. Terms like FTP and CPanel are like a foreign language and setting up a database might as well be setting up the space shuttle for a launch. Because of the technology barrier, many would-be bloggers never start their blogs...

I saw Ian tweeting about the surfing lessons.
It would’ve been fun to see you give it a try.
Can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrows dot com pho!
I wonder if the dot com pho will actually happen tomorrow…i’m sure with Del Mar style of course!
Boy this one is really great location and great weather.
With so many talented people …
Apparently, the weather wasn’t the best with the clouds…but the mid 60′s temp was ok…just not for surfing…lol
Well … I do not know surfing so particularly for me this weather is quite amazing …
You can surf in any weather day or night.
Most pro surfers like to surf when the conditions are a bit harsh.
Yeah I don’t think there would be any newbies there, most of these guys have been around for a while
Sounds like an amazing event, you’ll have a great time I’m sure but I can’t believe you missed the surfing lessons! I’ve done it a couple of times and you don’t know what you are missing, although not getting wet is an advantage of surfing the net I suppose lol.
I wasn’t aware that this type of conference existed, seems like a lot of fun and a great idea for networking and getting fresh ideas. I’ll have to try to attend next year though it’s a bit of a distance to travel from here in the UK.
Having said that, the latest post on theresmoneyeverywhere.com discusses the importance of taking time away from the internet and recharging your batteries so to speak, something we all need to do from time to time.
The best thing was when the drummer from our beach party came up and said, “Is this the event John Chow is going to?” I read all his stuff.
We would love to see John dancing on his drum beats …
Please arrange that … and try to bring Jeremy as well.
This will be fun to watch.
I haven’t seen show being featured in any of johns videos yet. I wonder what he’s been up to.
Maybe John is keeping the video for himself
or the fun haven’t reach it’s max..
@purposeinc – Haha, a gate crasher
hahaha, that’s really funny and great to see a lot of people know you
Hey John,
I’m glad you like it there and that you are letting your readers know what it’s like.
I hope to make it there next year and it’ll be easier to do that if the deal is the same as this year.
San Diego has much better than Seattle…any thoughts of moving again John???
San Diego has much better what than Seattle, weather?
San Diego is THE place …
Sun and beach … you can not ask for more.
Yeah, I was just there earlier this month for a conference and it was beautiful…about 75 degrees, on the beach…clear day. Loved it.
LOL…the thought was there, but I guess the fingers couldn’t keep up…yes, that was in reference to the weather, but from the vid…it is a bit overcast.
It seems interesting and it’s great the atmosphere is relaxed
Yeah…didn’t they have to sign confy agreements also?
nevermind…they did sign the NDA on the vid that John showed…I guess we won’t be getting the dirty secrets to making monies
not directly at least…
True, at a beach party I probably wouldn’t care about secrets only partying.
Partying is for night time
Nice video John. I like the shot you got of me getting a massage, which was very nice after surfing for the first time in my life!
Think Tank is awesome. do what what you can to get there.
Never surfed huh…where you from?
Me neither
haha I wondered who was getting the massage.
That wasn’t massage that was chiropractic
Relaxing…nurf guns…ping pong…my kinda conference
I’m sure the ideas in that room will be well worth the price!
Boy this one is simply superb and the arrangements are looking quite well.
Lets see how’s this one is going …
We are waiting to watch more John … so just keep shooting
Should be an interesting weekend of videos…
I hope he records everyday he’s there.
I’m sure he won’t
Yeah keep that video going John, looks like your the only one game enough to take these videos man, good for you!
Hey John, Great video! Those waves look amazing, I used to surf up and down California in my younger days.
Hope Jonathan Volk gave you some tips for making money online, I’m still struggling.
Oh those old days …
Jonathan is his date as well on this tour … lolzzz
I know, how awesome to have Jonathan volk as your date, lol. You can definitely learn interesting things from him.
Hello John,
nice good time you spent there, i hope everything is ok…but one question was it not forbideen to record or speak about that?
Best regards
Soares
I am allowed to to video stuff at thinktank, just not the secret business stuff.
Hey John,
Was wondering if you could tell me the benefits of video blogging as opposed to traditional blogging.
Thanks,
Aaron
Why you want to differentiate two things … both are vital and since we have many portable devices and mobile phones which can support video as well than this will be add advantage and your visitors can reach you at any time.
Just add more and more new things and manage them properly.
Wow, this certainly inspires a lot of people, especially my amazement saw your video. ThinkTank 2011 would not be missed. Thanks Jhon.
I think there should be paid online membership edition, where we can watch the videos from what was diiscussed but we have to pay to watch them, because this would be good for others who could not make it!
I sat next to Ian the who time during the speed dating – I got his pitch down
Video’s are a great way of interacting with your visitors and your customers in a way that “can” make it easier to hold their attention. Still, that doesn’t mean with the wrong video you wouldn’t just bore the snot out of someone and they would just leave.
And don’t be scared about the whole idea of making a video blog or a video in general. It’s easier then it looks. I should know, for a long time I dreaded even learning the process. Now, I’m no expert, but at least I can produce something worth while now.
I think I would be out on the board all day!
Yeah.. A great weather to enjoy if we were there..
Wow.. But if it is about the beach, I think Hawaii is better and there is some other places in Asia too..
Do you like it ?
Yeah, Hawaii definitely rocks, along with Florida
John is having great time … San Diego and than Miami …
Boy he is simply loving his dot com life style.
