Three Hour Photo Session For BC Business
The photographer for BC Business Magazine was over this morning to take my picture for an upcoming issue. They wanted to project an image that blogging can be done anywhere and at anytime, even when you’re in your bathrobe. Luckily, I just happen to have a nice Versante bathrobe laying around.
The photo session lasted over three hours as photographer Nick Westover tried to capture that “blogging in jammies” look. We took some shots of me sitting at my workstation and with my notebook by the stairs. Even Sally got in on some of the photos.
I didn’t get a chance to see any of the photos so I have no idea what they look like. However, I’m sure it’ll look better than this.
Yes, you really can blog in your bathrobe. Look for me in the June (or July) issue of BC Business magazine.

3 hours ? Last time I got photographed for a newspaper article it lasted 3 min and they even managed to print my name wrong

And what is this about someone asking how do you use 1 mouse with 2 monitors? Doesn’t anyone else use dual monitors? It’s the only way to go!
What do you need baby wipes next to your computer for?
They’re great for cleaning the LCDs.
Nick is supposed to show up at my place around 6 to take my shots for the article. I’m not big on having my picture taken so this should be interesting. I sure hope he doesn’t stick around for 3 hours, that’s awfully long for a photographer to be kicking around.

Hey John, Why do you have 2 LCD screens? Does both share the same cpu? How do you utilize them?
Yes, computers can operate with multiple monitors. With my computer’s Windows XP operating system, it only took a few keystrokes and mouse movements to set things up.
And according to the studies that have been done on it, adding an extra monitor can increase your productivity by 20 to 30 percent. BTW, nice setup John.
I use 2 screens in my home office. Productivity is far better with this setup then just a single screen, especially when trying to move data between a spreadsheet and email for example. You can copy from 1 screen to the second with out having to minimise and maximise the 2 windows.

I don’t understand, John. I’ve been doing EVERYTHING you’ve said in your posts, and I’ve followed all your advice, and I even got a massage chair and set up two LCD monitors, purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse, set up my desk with speakers and a remote control, put a rubik’s cube and a Blackberry and a can of diet Coke and a container of WetOnes at my workstation, found a toy dog to put on top of my tower, positioned a small globe between my monitors, placed miscellaneous high-tech devices all around my desk, bought a condo with beige walls and set up my office facing the window, dressed in a white bathrobe and bought ChonJow.com, paid for expensive surgery to turn myself Chinese, AND I’M STILL NOT JOHN CHOW. What is with this? I thought if I copied every single thing you did I’d have discovered the amazing secrets to becoming rich and famous and successful and wildly popular just by sitting on my computer all day. Instead, I’m just another piss-poor, unoriginal wannabe blogger faking his way through the web with carpal tunnel syndrome and too many ads on his site.

Yeah, for a dot com mogul, your workspace still looks double mod — modern yet modest. The more I see this picture, the more I’m starting to like that chair; what kind is it and where did you get it?
