Time For Another Contest!

OK! It’s time to hold another contest and give away some more free stuff! This time I have a really cool prize but I’m not going to tell you what it is. You’ll have to watch the video to find out.

To enter this contest, all you have to do is to join the John Chow dot Com MyBlogLog community. 169 members have already joined the community without the incentive of a contest. That was enough for MyBlogLog to feature this blog as one of the six Hot Communities. As a reward to the early members, they will all received an extra entry into the draw.

MyBlogLog is actually a very cool service. It has helped me put a name to the face of my readers and it also helps to increase traffic because readers visit the community member’s website. I have noticed a nice increase in traffic since setting this up.

The contest deadline is this Friday so if you haven’t join the blog’s MyBlogLog community, do so now! On Friday, I will draw a name from all the entries and that person will win this prize! Good luck!

Can anyone even play that video? It’s screwed up and doesn’t even show up in the post.

    1. John Chow says:

The Google upload seem to have messed up. It only plays when you go to Google Video. I am uploading to YouTube right now.

      1. Stephen says:

OMG! You’ve turned into Rodney Reynolds from 3DGameMan! 😆

…at least you didn’t say that drive kicked ass… 😛

Your MyBlogLog is in Espanol! Mouse over your avatar!

        1. Michael Kwan says:

          Si. Espanol, senor.

Okay, that’s about as far as my Spanish goes.

        2. Ryan says:

This is hilarious. John Chow dot com, the largest Spanish speaking community on MyBlogLog… or is it just the root of all evil trying to attrack the Spanish speaking community?!

        3. It’s not Spanish, it’s Italian!

          1. Michael Kwan says:

            Wow, don’t I feel ignorant.

      3. Jeff says:

I find YouTube to be the most reliable.. I tried using the self-embeding plugin (whatever it was called.. FLV embed??) and it had problems with IE, and I wasn’t the only one. There were lots of complaints on hw it did nt work well on ie

  2. Nate W. says:

John Chow, great video! I hope I win!

  3. baron says:

You are a marketing guru. I hope I have a good chance this time!

  4. Jane May says:

Nice! I get an extra entry! I was wondering when the next contest was going to take place. I like the MBL inclusion…it’s sure to increase the numbers there as it did on Technorati.

    1. Jeff says:

Eh. Looks liek I visited him often enough, I’m in the list too so I get 2 inclusions!

  5. Michael Kwan says:

Added you to MyBlogLog community thing.

Check it out, I have an avatar now too —->

  6. Leftblank says:

Nicely done John, will we also have a higher chance next time? 😉

  7. Ali says:

    Do you ship international?

    1. Jeff says:

Haha that’s a tall order but who knows?

    2. John Chow says:

Yes I will ship anywhere in the world. The drive weigh 2 oz. and doesn’t cost much to ship.

      1. Ali says:

        Ok, I joined :)

        1. Michael Kwan says:

If he wasn’t going to ship, you weren’t going to join?

  8. This is one of the nice things about reading the blogs of the bigger guys, a chance to win a pretty freaking cool flash drive. Thanks for the chance John.

  9. Soultrance says:

One of those would sure be handy.

I’m going to have to get some gear to give away on my blog, seems like a fantastic way to get people more involved in your site. Great way to building community and spread the world.

  10. Allen.H says:

Man, I knew someone will force me to get into this MyBlogLog thingy eventually, lol.

  11. Nate W. says:

John, I am curious… how do you randomly pick someone from the community to win? Do you enter all of the names into an Excel databae and use the random function? Do you write everyones name on a piece of paper and pull them out of a bag?

    1. John Chow says:

I enter all the name, put it in a box and pull out a name. I may even do the draw as a video!

  12. Leif Hearne says:

You know what the first thing to go through my head was? A lego set that actually used this to store operating instructions for the lego toy actions.

    Technix 2010 anyone?

  13. Gareth says:

I would of thought a dot com mogul would be using a service like revver that pays you every time someone watches the video?

In any case I’ve joined. Send that lego baby to down under!

    1. Ryan says:

      Revver is far from reliable.

      1. Michael Kwan says:

I agree, Revver is not reliable. He could try that AdBrite thing he talked about some time back. Or maybe metacafe?

  14. Gdog says:

    I really hope I win…thanks John!

  15. Aris says:

John, I thought those who joined prior to the contest should get extra chance, since they have joined even without any incentive. :-) But hey, at least we could heard your voice now.

    1. John Chow says:

Those who joined the community before the contest got an extra entry.

  16. Kalle says:

Thanks for the contest. I started reading your blog yesterday and I really liked it, so I joined your MyBlogLog community, and the next day a contest pops up were I have a bigger chance to win then the “newcommers”. Very nice :) Hope I win, even though I might not deserve it as much as your old readers.

  17. Marc says:

I’d love to John, but if I do, you’ll see my face but lose my name since my screen name is unavailable.

  18. Somehow I think that if I were to win this, it would end up in my son’s lego buckets and I would never see it again.

Already was a member of your community so it will be nice to get that extra chance.

    1. Nomar says:

lol, just keep it out of your sons hands 😉

      1. I’d have to keep it at work because his radar would likely find it anywhere in the house. :)

He is preparing for a career with Lego, which I think would be really cool actually.

    2. Marc says:

To that problem, the answer is simple. Put it in your own bucket of Legos first :)

      1. Lol, I actually had a huge bucket of legos that my parents still had from when I was a kid. A few years back they gave all of those to my son.

  19. Kalle says:

Thanks John! I started reading your blog yesterday and I really liked it, so I joined your MyBlogLog community and the day after a competition were I have bigger chance of winning then the “newcommers” appear. How B-E-A-utiful 😀

    Kalle :)

  20. Nils says:

    nice.. me want

  21. Nomar says:

That is a cool price. Hope I can sign up before friday.. very busy with work ( i have free from school )

  22. Dragos Roua says:

    Nice idea!

Out of curiosity, setting up the whole thing: chosing the stick, buying it, writing the blog post, making the movie and posting it to YouTube, this entire very serious marketing operation, was how much time? You seem to move so fast, but I know there is a lot and a LOT of work behind the curtain.

And I think it would be a good example for other bloggers about what blog marketing and viral social networks can be, if done correctly.

Good luck! (And to mee, to, I like LEGO’s 😉 )

  23. Jason

I can’t believe you have that idiot Jon Waraas linked on your blog and even accepts his advertising money.

How about you read his recent post where he talks about cheating sites toplists using proxies.

  24. Kiltak says:

After John Chow the Google Whore, we have, John Chow the MyBlogLog Whore! 😉

    1. Michael Kwan says:

And it doesn’t stop there. He’s also the AGLOCO whore, TLA whore, ….

  25. Steven Stark says:

Well I actually just signed up for your MyBlog.com community today, then noticed this contest! I guess I entered it by accident. lol. I hope I win by accident too.

  26. Oh, yeah! Double entry yet again.

Cool thumb drive. It would be sweet to win one of those :)

  27. Matt Huggins says:

    Whatup double entry!!
