TIME Magazine has just named their Person of the Year and the winner is You (or me, us?)! It seems that you, me, us, control the information age and has shifted the world as we know it.

Who are these people? Seriously, who actually sits down after a long day at work and says, I’m not going to watch Lost tonight. I’m going to turn on my computer and make a movie starring my pet iguana? I’m going to mash up 50 Cent’s vocals with Queen’s instrumentals? I’m going to blog about my state of mind or the state of the nation or the steak-frites at the new bistro down the street? Who has that time and that energy and that passion?

The answer is, you do. And for seizing the reins of the global media, for founding and framing the new digital democracy, for working for nothing and beating the pros at their own game, TIME’s Person of the Year for 2006 is you.

Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger awards TIME the Linkbaiter of the Year Award because naming you as the Person of the Year will create so many backlinks for TIME, it may push their Google PageRank to 10.

While I think it’s a great award (you/we) have been a part of a massive shift) I think it’s also a brilliant Linkbait strategy (planned or unplanned). Can you imagine the inbound links this is going to create for Time?!? Every user generated content maker is going to be linking to this one! :)

I like to thank TIME for this honor of being named Person of the Year. However, since this honor also goes out to you as well, I guess I have to share it with everyone of you. You know who you are. :)

    I hate when Time doesn’t actually pick A person. This year its everyone - in the 80s the computer and the earth one
