Top Affiliate Challenge Contestants Selected

Congratulations to the following 12 Top Affiliate Challenge contestants. After months of hard work and campaigning, these 12 beat out hundreds of other contestants to make it to the show.

  • Ty Hurd
  • Big Jason Henderson
  • Jonathan Van Clute
  • Devin Hunter
  • Tom β€œthe Furry Hat Guy”
  • Jani Gaffor
  • Jonathan Ryan
  • Carl Zetterlund
  • Chad Van Norman
  • Ronda Del Boccio
  • Collin Lahay
  • Ian Fernando

Now that the contestants have been selected, the fun can really begin. The 12 contestants will be flown to Lincoln, Nebraska at the end of the month to begin their two week challenge to see who will be the Top Affiliate. The contestants will be divided into three teams. Each team will be lead by either myself, Shoemoney or Ken McArthur.

I’m really looking forward to this competition. I’ve reviewed the audition videos of all the contestants and I would be happy to have anyone of them on my team. The first episode of Top Affiliate Challenge will air in the first week of July. Make sure you tune in and cheer for my team!

Other than filming the show and punching a cow, I wonder what else is there to do in Lincoln, Nebraska?

    1. Ian Fernando says:

      1. Hope you win Ian πŸ˜€

      2. I’m looking forward to hearing about what the evil one himself is teaching everyone.

        1. big jason says:

and here I thought Shoemoney was the evil one!!!

          1. I think Chow and Shoemoney should have a competition to see who is more evil.

          2. big jason says:

how much money can your team make in 24 hours? I think we’ll be seeing some “evil” or at least the fruits of it. πŸ˜‰

jackson vs griffin ufc is july 5th during filming. if thor doesn’t milk that for all its worth, he’s crazy.

          3. Abdul says:

            I hope Ian wins!

    2. Thiago Prado says:

Yeah he was very brave and lucky because he’s in 56th position last week and jumped to 12th. Congrats!

  2. Congratulations to Collin Lahay for making it as well. Very informative blog Colln has there.

    1. Collin LaHay says:

Thanks Alan, I appreciate the comment.

  3. I’m sure a couple of them were on Joel Comm’s version of the Apprentice on the web last summer.

    1. big jason says:

      big jason

      1. Abdul says:

        Wow, you qualified too, congratulations!

  4. Ganesh says:

Hey John, what sort of contest is this. I mean, do you lead a team and try to make the most affiliate sales?

    1. Collin LaHay says:

Yes. John Chow, Shoemoney, and Ken McArthur will each be leading a team of (predictably 4) contestants to find the best affiliate marketer.

  5. big jason says:

i’m actually looking forward to tipping some cows and eating a lot of creamed corn john! πŸ˜‰ see you soon
    big jason

    1. Collin LaHay says:

Maybe one of our competitions involves selling the most cans of creamed corn for our team? Get a nice local word of mouth campaign going. πŸ™‚

      See you in Nebraska.

      1. big jason says:

hahaha. that would be funny. with me at 6’11” and you at 18, we could pretend to be a father/son team and clean up at that. πŸ˜‰

  6. Congratulations to all the contestants! I’m sure they are all going to learn heaps!

    1. Collin LaHay says:

Well the idea is for the viewers to learn heaps as well, but there is no doubt in anyones mind that we will all learn a lot.

Hope you learn something yourself Tom. πŸ™‚

  7. Congrats Ian and all the contestants.. Should be a good Competition.. πŸ˜›

  8. Juan Burton says:

CooL! I hope Ian will win, we’ll see… hehe πŸ˜‰

  9. Shanel Yang says:

I’m a huge fan of The Apprentice, so I’ll have to stay tuned for this exciting contest. Hmm. Lots of interesting stuff going on here!

    1. Abdul says:

Is this going to be aired on TV, and is John going there as well?

      1. Not JohnChow says:

TV would be great! How about it John? I am sure you could get someone in the mainstream to bite!

  10. Tom says:

One word… “waverly” it’s about 20 min outside of Lincoln. It will be time well spent :).

  11. Chad says:

    Seriously it’s in Nebraska?

    1. Yep, Nebraska. Nothin’ there but plains, cows, corn and Shoemoney.

      1. Abdul says:

        Shoemoney?? Shoemoney lives in Nebraska?

      2. Collin LaHay says:

So it has everything a state needs then? …kidding.

      3. Binary Ant says:

hahaha this comment was funny Alan. I was wondering if the 12 marketers will stay at Shoemoney’s house. Take a picture with his logo at the bottom of the swimming pool!!

  12. bob says:

Thought I would let you know Mr. Chow. Some one is going around trying to pretend hes you. I believe he may be trying to scam people. Hes using the Email “[email protected]”. I have screenies up on a blog I would try taking over that email so no one else gets scammed.

  13. Tom says:

for the record… Nebraska does have cities, the cows are just between the cities πŸ™‚

  14. Hi John & company! Jonathan here… looking forward to meeting everyone in Lincoln. I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon, SOOOO much to do before I leave!! Ack!!

  15. Mike Huang says:

THe only flaw that I see in this challenge is that a lot of the contestants had paid “super votes” to get their rank. I believe that voting should be done fairly, but a person with money could just win the ranks on voting lol

    1. big jason says:

i talked about that today on the gary james show. contestants who were complaining about this were actually the ones doing it!!! ROFL!

    2. Collin LaHay says:

That is not always true, Gaj had over $1500 in supervotes (300+ of them), and he came in 11th. The supervotes were all about adding a little more strategy to the voting process, because if you really think about it, paying $200 for adverting on some popular site requesting that the readers voted you a 10/10 would indirectly be “buying your way onto the show,” but in reality it would just be smart marketing.

At the end of the day, it is all a matter of opinion. However, I believe sometimes you just have to spend money to make money.

  16. big jason says:

yep. while people were complaining, gaj, jonathan van clute and myself were kicking some serious ass seperating people from $5 and more at a time with marketing. just think if thor had made it posible to enter the amount you wanted to pay or a dropdown of multiples of $5. πŸ˜‰

  17. Juan Burton says:

Just wanted to say Good Luck to all of the Contestants. I hope you all enjoy yourselves, have fun, nextwork with each other, partnership, and prosper. πŸ˜‰

    Yours Truely,

    1. big jason says:

thanks juan. should be a blast.

      big jason

  18. Sounds exciting! I’m glad Ty Hurd made it, he’s been working hard to get votes! πŸ˜›

    1. Ty Hurd says:

Hey SB – thanks for the support! I’m looking forward to the show TONS, can’t wait to learn from the masters! This is gonna be a wild ride…

  19. Hey this is funny I just found Ian’s site for the first time a couple of nights ago and had a great time looking at his skill. Such a young guy!

But from what I can tell Collin has a lot of know-how so that’s going to be tough to beat (although I never could get that Hugger thing to work).

    1. Collin LaHay says:

Thanks Dave, Yeah both of those sites had a few bugs in them, as well as being too optimized for tech-savvy people that I could have lost a lot of potential customers. It was a great learning experience however for my upcoming projects.

  20. Thanks for the post

    Chad Van Norman

  21. Allen says:

Good luck to everyone involved! I will be keeping up to see how the contest goes.

  22. This looks to be a good learning experience for us watchers too.

  23. Good luck everyone, I am sure you will learn loads and have a blast. make sure that you keep us up to date with how it all goes and any secrets anyone can pass on will be much appreciated!

  24. Hi John,

I’m probably biased on who I’d like to win The Top Affiliate Challenge.

As I live in London UK my I’m backing Jani (also from the UK ) who I also know from his online marketing businesses.

    Just my 2 cents.

let the best man or woman win! πŸ˜‰
