Twitter Follower – My New Twitter Site

written by John Chow on April 28, 2009

Download my FREE eBook!

Last night, I unveiled my little Twitter side project onto the Twittersphere. Twitter Follower is a free service designed to help you quickly build a Twitter list so you can avoid negative social proof. Unlike RSS, you can not hide your follow count and because of human nature, many people will not follow someone with no followers. Twitter Follower is a database of Twitter users who will follow you if you follow them. By following the users in the database, you can quickly and effectively build your list and avoid that dread zero in the follower count.

If you have a policy of following everyone who follows you, then feel free to add your account to the list. The bigger the list, the more useful it becomes. If you don’t follow people back, then please don’t add yourself because you’ll be removed and banned once enough members report you. However, feel free to use the list to quickly get some new followers.

Mass Unfollow Everyone Who’s Not Following You

The other feature of Twitter Follow is the mass unfollow button. Push this button and Twitter Follower will unfollow everyone who’s not following you back. Other services charge for this feature but it’s free with Twitter Follower. Make sure you really want to unfollow those people before you push that button because once you push it, there’s no turning back!

The coding of Twitter Follower was done by Matt Freedman. He did a great job on it. If you’re looking for a good coder, give Matt a call.

Hi John,

It is a great idea, if you want to do well using Twitter you need followers.

The concept of social proof is applied here, if people see that you have lot of followers and that your tweets are good then you are well on your way to success.

As I follow everyone who follows me I’ll add my account :)

Thanks,
^PV Reymond

Mass unfollow seems rather counter intuitive, because there is just so much of this jabber about “follow me and I follow you”. I guess at some point someone decides that “give me a dollar and I give you one” works better if goes “give me a dollar”.

Jake Stone’s last blog post: Identity theft at John Chow

John Chow April 28, 2009 at 7:16 pm

One of the reasons for the mass unfollow button is the way Twitter does it follow limit. You can’t follow more than 2,000 or 110% of your following count. By mass unfollowing all those who don’t follow you, you free up space to follow more people.

Marketing Business Review April 30, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Hi John,

I just signed up and already followed everyone in the 16 pages and it was some time consuming, right now it maybe not such a big deal cuz this is just beginning but what if there are 1000 new people to follow everyday, I think it could be a very good idea to include a mass follow similar to your mass unfollow. And maybe having an option to follow your new followers automatically like Tweetlater, I have tweetlater so I follow back everyone in autopilot unless I reach the limit of course.

I really think this is an awesome tool.

I have a little problem with it. Right now Twitter has stopped me from following people. I guess I followed too many too soon. I will follow anyone on the list but if someone new gets the list today and follows me and I can’t respond by following back then they will delete me. Maybe people should be told to wait a week before hitting the onfollow button to give those a chance to catch up.

John, I do not agree that I NEED to follow back everyone that follows me, or that I should unfollow people who do not follow me. If that’s what you want then play on facebook! The beauty of twitter is I can follow people I am interested in, but that does not mean they need to be interested in me!

My business is more successful when I am selective and participate with a target market that is interested in what I offer, and Twitter allows me to do just that!

John,

After nine months of building relationships with ‘marketing guru’s’, joining Affiliate networks (over 20!) and attending BlogWorld Expo 2008, Affiliate Summit West 2009 and reading every .PDF and eBook on the subject of web marketing, taking PPC courseware, Online Profits Courseware, reading membership site blogs, reading “how to blog in your pajama’s” etc ad naseum I have come to one conclusion.

Without a mentor, web-administrator, copywriter, and / or someone who can help you navigate the endless computer-programmer level tasks associated with an online business, you are not going to make a living on the internet.

Requirement to learn all of the following:
.CSS
.PHP
.html
cPanel
WordPress
Writing good content on your blog
Learning CPA, CPM, PPC, SEO (not sure about SEO..)
Landing page design
Social Media relationship-building

Oh and watching to see if your campaign profits are being siphoned-off by an Affiliate Network insider!

The challenges for an unemployed, ex- Sony senior systems design engineer are insurmountable.

I’m no stranger to complexity, but I do not have the time to learn all of these web-disciplines and try to continue in this business.

In other fields, engineering for example the classes actually teach hard facts applicable to a job in the field.

Web marketing by it’s very nature is ’secretive’ and no one will reveal the truth behind the marketing success, that it took years of 16-hour days, and large sums of $$ spent grinding it out.

Successful web marketing requires an individual with plenty of time, the skills and attributes listed above and a stable source of income to ‘finance’ the click-budget’ expenses which can quickly max-out a credit card.

After nine months of attempts to breakthrough to success online have ended in near bankruptcy for me and my family.

While individuals such as yourself ‘get it’ for the rest of us newbies the success rate has to be astronomically low.

Respectfully,

Nicholas Chase

Man! This is amazing. Twitter Follower would give any Twitter addict a better chance to dominate Twitter, in his niche.

But, we should all bear in mind that only getting a lot of people as followers would not be enough. The point of contributing to these services is being an active Twitter member.

After you have a large list of followers interested in your particular topic, you should be able to communicate with them. But the difference between Twitter and other social services is the form of communication. In Twitter, you should inform your followers about what you are doing now.

It may seem strange, but it will be interesting if you know how to do. You see, people are not really interested in what you are going to do, because you’re not a famous person. However, you can relate it to something which could attract their attention and give value to them.

Twitter is an amazing resource for all types of marketers. Once you know how to combine Twitter’s feature with your online business, you will become a successful Twitter marketer.

And for that, Twitter Follower could be an amazing and helpful tool. Thanks John for this brilliant program which is absolutely FREE.

Sincerely,

Hooshmand

TwitterFollower is a fantastic tool. I’ve added a lot of followers in only a day. I note the site is offline today and hope it will be back up soon.

Ya man..

What has happen to twitter follower ? Site is down for past 2 days..

Any idea ?

Sherwin May 29, 2009 at 8:18 am

I’d like to try it but the website is down. So while waiting, I’m going to try http://www.TwitList.com – a combination of Twitter and Craigslist.

Brent N. Hunter May 30, 2009 at 11:54 am

I’m very excited about this new service and can’t wait to use it. However as the past several posts have indicated, the site has been offline for the past few days. Will John give any updates on this website and/or post or should we be looking for updates elsewhere?

I don’t see the sense in all this. All this instant following and stuff on Twitter. I think all this Twitter business will quickly fade away in a few short years. Things come and go and Twitter is one of them. It is just a passing fad. With that said, I think you have a great idea here and one that many people will certainly gravitate towards.

One thing that most people forget is that they need to have a great website in which attract people in an organic way. All these gimmicks are just quick fixes and really do not replace doing actual work. That work takes place on your website. I’m sure many have great websites and use Twitter and others social media to bring in more traffic. That’s great but the vast majority of people use Twitter and other social media as substitute for an actual internet presence.

By the way, I was not able to get on your website. It appears to be down. What bummer.

It says “Incorrect username and password combination” but i have just re-registered and confirmed the account but always same error..( “Incorrect username and password combination”).

Hi John,

Your twitter follower site has been a a great blessing for me. I signed up for my Twitter account on May 21 and now I have like 1200+ followers.

And this all without me personally adding anyone as a follower. I only followed whoever followed me first.

I recommend everyone to log into your site Twitter Follower and join the list. I even wrote a small post about your site in my blog.

Here’s the link:- How To Get More Followers At Twitter?

Thank you & Wish you all the best.
