Two 300×250 Ad Spots Available

written by John Chow on November 9th, 2007

I have two 300×250 ad spot for sale. That’s the ad you see on the right of this post. The 300×250 is embedded into the first two posts of the front page and into all single posts. The ad also appears in the first two posts of the full feed RSS. This is the only ad that shows up in both the blog and the RSS feed. All together, over 1 million banner impressions per month are delivered to this ad.

The 300×250 banner spot is the biggest and most visible banner spot on this blog. It is also the highest performing. Your ad will go in rotation with nine other banners. This will help to counteract banner blindness that often happens when a reader sees the same ad too often. Price per banner rotation is $500 per month and I have two rotations up for grabs.

If you’re interested in securing a 300×250 banner ad, PayPal $500 to johnchow@johnchow.com, and Email your 300×250 ad to same Email address. The banner can not be bigger than 25K in size. Animation is allowed but no Flash please. I expect the ad to sell out very quickly so get your order in now if you really want it.

That is a bargain! I thought your 125 X 125 ads were $400. That is a quick money maker for you!!

I don’t know. I would get $30 reviews from 20 blogs and that would get me a good technorati and backlink boost.

That would be 16 $30 reviews!

Would be interesting to see what had the better reach in the long run. After the initial frenzy of clicks the first few days the ads seem to drop off in hits, maybe the reviews will have better longevity.

Yes, those would be better choices for newer blogs, it would raise your profile by 20 places in TEchnorati for example. I don’t know if TEchnorati produces much traffic though.

I would hedge my bed and spread the reviews out with 20 other blogs. Better for long term. Someone should do a case study on whats better. Big at on one site or small review mes on many sites.

You could get close to a hundred 50-word reviews with PayPerPost. Sure they’d all be on small, PR0 blogs, but imagine 100 back links with your chosen anchor text. That would do wonders for your search engine ranking (if you’re not penalized, of course). Plus, most of those links would last longer than a month, and wouldn’t be in rotation with other advertisers.

What a boring post! Did you survive that Page Ranking disaster that google visited upon you? That is way more exciting. As you can probably tell this is not my usual area of the blogosphere but I linked to you anyway. Way to stay on target! Keep marketing dude! Cowabunga!

I’m seriously tempted, but $500 is a lot for me. I think the traffic surge would be worth it!

John, what is the traffic like for advertisers?

That’d be a significant boost on Technorati rankings… Would put me in at under 40K. Mmm. Worth thinking about.

Advertising on John Chow is actually very cheap per reader. It is a good deal.

Yes James is right. You get more bang for your buck simply because of the sheer numbers of visitors / readers.

I’ve always wanted to advertise here. I will have to think of a way to make it more worth while since I don’t really sell anything.

John Chow advertising is like a search engine which drives you traffic and i guess zac had shown you how much he got out of the money he invested on advertising here. I think it’s a pretty cool investment.

John,

Since I can afford it the $500 payment has been sent your way. I will splitting the 30 days with Rui from http://www.text-link-easy.com to reduce the add blindness affect.

Now I have about two weeks to work on my theme and sell some 125×125 ad spots :-)
