USB Humping Dog Taught to Store Files

written by John Chow on March 14, 2007

How one lazy bum made $176,697.50

humping_dog_mod.jpg

Remember that USB humping dog that did nothing but hump the USB port? Well it seems some guy with too much time on his hands tried to rip it apart in an attempt to install some flash memory inside.

After pulling the dog apart, he found there was simply no room for any memory components. That would normally stop the average person but it doesn’t stop someone with nothing better to do. The intrepid hacker went with plan B – solder the parts on the outside. The best thing about the mod is the dog only humps during data transfer.

The original USB humping dog is currently sold out, but the company expects to have more stock in three weeks. Maybe the guy who made this mod can sell it to the manufacturer. Then we may get a humping dog that does more than just humps. Enjoy the video.

talk about smart advirtising! this isn't even that complex, it's just a clever marketing idea, kudos to whoever though of this

That is a cool device, beats the average looking USB storage key. Quite funny actually, gotta get myself one when it becomes available again.

Das Brain

That's one interesting toy.. IF only I can have one of those...

That is one hyper humpin dog!!! I used to have a Chihuahua that would do that to my leg.

I want a humping dog USB key! Ties in beautifully with my latest post too!!

Cool mod.

I thought it had always been a useable thumb drive.

same here...didn't realize it had no function but to hump the post.

This is by far the most stupid thing I've ever seen... Why oh why did some jerk come up with plugging useless crap to the USB-port?

to make money, why else. If they are sold out, I'd say they made a wise invention.

Haha...that definitely made me laugh...quite amusing

that's simple superb!! this post diserves the "post of the year" award ;)

HAHAHA Nice! Clearly someone does have too much time on their hands. Oh well, it's a good thing they do!

Yeah, they probably don't have a blog.

Now that's my kind of hacker :) Old school hacker, hacking hardware!

I would never a hard time if I take it to my office.

OMG LOL That is too good. That's better than the cell phone vibrator!

This is the worst humping dog i ever see

How many Humps would you give it on your Dog-Humping Scale?

Personally, I don't judge their humping styles.

Personally, I don't judge humping styles.

I'm surprised it took someone this long to modify it. I thought it would have been done shortly after it was released.

I was thinking the same thing, considering that the biggest complaint against the original was that it was completely useless.

NEXT HACK: Combining the humping dog with the OhMiBod ipod vibrator!

I'm sure the TTZ has the contacts to get that made?

Kumiko
xo

so why'd you have to put that into my mind Kumiko?

Can we rely on you, Kumiko, to review this innovative new product you speak of?

What roll would this dog be playing in that scenario?!

By the way, when is that review coming so to speak?

I'm waiting anxiously for a response!

hahaha thats funny, heck why not make that vib. thing just plug directly into a USB

This is why I love "hackers" - take something and make it your own!

love huh...does your wife know this

That is hilarious. I think everyone should have one of those.

I love the way it only humps if the memory is being accessed. Maybe add some flashing LEDs when it's humping for the commercial version.

I think that's the best part of the mod, because the original humped *all the time*.

That would probably get annoying. After 12 hours your eyes would probably start twitching from constant movement in your peripheral vision.

Yeah, I'd be annoyed and probably break for for distracting me while writing posts.

Although they would make for great gag gifts

I know, its a really neat idea, very funny :-)

Now that would be a great prize to give away! hahahaha

Yeah I could really do with some more storage at work!

That's a good idea, I wonder if we could get a hold of this guy?

hahah yep, who wouldnt want a humping dog.

That's funny, but I can feel more complaints coming on already!

Wow that has to be the most pointless yet hilarious USB device I have ever seen! Id buy one even if it only humped; my friends would get a kick out of it :)

That's too funny!
