Waking Up To An Alarm Clock Again

Well, this is something I never counted on. One of the advantages of the Dot Com Lifestyle is the freedom from the alarm clock. However, with Sally now going to kindergarten and her class starting at 8:25 in the morning, I’ve found I need to set the alarm on my iPhone so I could drive her to school.

It has been a long time since I had to used an alarm and I must admit, I hate the sound of that thing! I guess I could hire someone to take Sally to school but one of the reasons I live the Dot Com Lifestyle is so I could have time to do stuff like this, even if it does mean setting an alarm clock.

By the way, the reason kindergarten starts at 8:25 is so parents dropping off kids will have time to make it to work. Ha! 😛

  1. You’ll miss sending Sally to school once she’s all grown up and can go to school by herself. 🙂

    1. …..and definitely do not want her father to accompany hir to school. 🙂

    2. Agreed! Children seem to grow up so fast!

    Hey John,
My little daughter Madalyn is just starting pre-school. So I got the Droid X going off every morning at 7am. Talk about an obnoxious ringer… and it don’t stop! You got to love it though!

Yes, John, some things, like waking up early with little ones, can’t be duplicated –dot com lifestyle included!

too say to you that you will use regularly.

  5. John, you still don’t need an alarm clock, just go to bed earlier! If you need an alarm clock that just means you’re not getting enough sleep.

    1. John Chow says:

I try to go to bed earlier but I like staying up late! lol

      1. SportsNub says:

Same here, I also like staying up late. In fact I just love to work at night only.

  6. I look back to know about my alarm signal which was in my school days to read in early morning. Now I need to wake up to work for online jobs. Still I have questions to ask you john. Thanks

    John,

School is for peasants….i.e. not your children!

Check out my kids, both before they turned 5:

And my son now is absolutely off the charts: blogging, finished algebra, reads 100 pages a day (all the Harry Potter books!)…and he’s only 6.75.

Let me know if you are interested in what we do. In fact I’m building a website to hopefully monetize our system for helping parents educate their own. That’s why I read and enjoy your blog.

Dont hire someone to drive her to school and waste money. You will learn a lot by walking your kid to school, its a great learning experience for sure.

    1. SportsNub says:

Yes, it is a great experience and no father would like to lose that fun.

  9. John, I remember you posting about Sally’s One Month Party it doesn’t seem that long ago. “Time really does fly” so to speak.

    1. SportsNub says:

Yes, true. Children grow very fast.

8:25 am is normal for an Elementary school. All of the schools in the District I work for in Sarasota, FL. start at either 8:30am or 8:15am. The only one that is different is the school that my 1st grade daughter goes to and it starts at 8:00am, with us having to have her their at the first bell of 7:50am.

  11. Michael says:

Well you are luckily enough to have gotten away from your alarm clock for soo long in the first place. You’ll get back to that point again sometime.

  12. Julie A Clear Sign says:

Awww how cute! I’m already up by 5 am if not earlier, and my 2nd grader has to be at school by 7:45. The best time of the day is driving him the 20 minutes to school…you find out a lot that way.

  13. Having to wake up with an alarm clock again would suck. But its going to be worth it to take your daughter to school.

  14. Party Ideas says:

I also hate the sound of that thing but John you should try for regular..

    1. SportsNub says:

Yes, Alarm can be really irritating but at the end it helps a lot.

NO matter how early I go to sleep, I need an alarm clock just in time for breakfast.

    1. PPC Ian says:

Agreed, without an alarm clock I would sleep all day.

      1. SportsNub says:

True, I would also end up wasting my time sleeping all day.

  16. If you can continue it it will boost your confident.

  17. PPC Ian says:

LOL. Consider yourself lucky John. Because in some countries (including Indonesia) the classes starts at 7. The traffic sucks so we need to drive the kids at 6 to make it on time.
