Wappow! Seattle Social Media Day at Red Door

The Wappow! Social Media Day is a reocurring event held on the third Thursday of every month. It’s dedicated to those interested in social media in Seattle. They meet in the afternoons for a two hour round table discussion reviewing each other’s social media strategy through online marketing from Facebook pages, groups, and events, as well as Twitter, Linkedin, Foursquare, Daily Booth, and various other social media strategies.

After the round table, the media gets social at the Red Door in Fremont. There, you can network with other social media professionals in the industry. If you didn’t make it to the round table talk you can always pop through the Red Door for a drink and some appetizers and geek out on social media talk, which was exactly what I did.

The Red Door gets it name from its door, which happens to be red. One of these days, I plan to go there at night and paint the door blue and see if they change their name. The Red Door is a neighborhood pub with a nice selection of beers, but a limited food menu. I imagine most people go there to drink instead of eat.

I tried the house special Red Door burger. Made from 1/3 pound of beef (you can add a second, third, or fourth patty), this heart attack inducing burger is sure to kill of any hungry pain if it doesn’t kill you first. At least you’ll die a happy man because the Red Door burger is quite tasty, with a really nice sauce and fresh lettuce and tomato.

Our server was attentive but didn’t seem very trusting. She asked for my credit card after taking the order and held on it until we were ready to leave. Does all the pubs in Seattle operate this way?

Overall, Red Door was a nice experience, and because it has free WiFi, it’s also a great place to hold a Social Media Day networking event. Check it out if you’re in Seattle.
