What Is Your Mind Frame?

Over the last 7 years I’ve worked with many different types of people across the world involved in every profession possible. It’s no secret in order to survive online you’ll have to do things differently. When a small business comes to me asking for my feedback on their future I’ll always start by asking them this universal question: Do you have an online presence? It doesn’t matter if your a sole proprietorship or a corporation, it’s important to have a website that represents your business. Next, I’ll always ask them their mind frame because I’ve found without the right psychology it’s going to be hard to succeed. As a blogger you’re going to have several perks with the most obvious being working from home while others are commuting everyday to an office working 9-5. You’ll have the luxury of a flexible working schedule and if you’re NOT careful it can interfere with your success formula. I’ve fell victim to the wrong mentality and my work suffered. It’s only when I made a few adjustments that, within 3 months, I was able to triple my earnings.

I’m here writing for all of you beginners who are looking to live the .com lifestyle and what you need to know before getting started. Here are two very important lessons:

Your Mentality

Many bloggers make the mistake of NOT understanding what they’ve decided to do when starting an online business. They treat it like a side project and forget it’s a business and should be treated like one. When I first started blogging I was working as though it was a recreational thing NOT focusing on the fact it was my livelihood. I was blogging for an income and depended on it to survive day-to-day. It was only when I changed my view from recreational to business that I really started to make money. You have to remember before starting that blogging is a business and should be treated like one. If you think of it as a side project than your going to have a hard time succeeding. For example,

In the beginning it’s very easy to get caught off guard because you have the flexibility to work from home and even on your own hours. However, blogging as your main source of income should require the same commitment as though you opened a physical business in your city. Here’s something odd…

I’ve worked harder at home than I did outside for someone else. I’ve committed to being the best and work 12 hours every day writing close to 10,000 words per week. I’m writing this post on a Saturday at 9:03PM when I should be with family. In the end, it’s a new business and needs 150% effort.

Your Sacrifice

Recently I was watching a documentary on Kobe Bryant who is a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was drafted at the age of 18 and taught me a lesson I will never forget. He said when he first got drafted after practice he would drive by high schools and colleges looking at the fun students were having. He said to himself that he should be with these kids doing the same thing, but at the age of 18 he’s working a full-time job training 10 hours a day. However, in the end of his statement he said something that reiterated my belief…

If you want to be the best you have to sacrifice things that are important to you. While my competition is out on weekends having fun, I’m working so I can be the best player in the NBA. Michael Jordan himself has stated only one player can accomplish what he has done – Kobe Bryant.

Here’s a quick lesson for all you beginners that need a reality check. If you want to make millions of dollars online and want to be the best, you’ll have to sacrifice those things that are important to you. Only then will you be able to outshine your competition by doing the things they’re not.

Wrapping it up…

It’s time to discipline yourself by making steady changes to your lifestyle. You first have to decide what’s important to you and how bad you want to be the best. Much of the motivation will be driven by your passion so it’s important to really love what your doing.
