What Is Your Website Grade?

written by John Chow on September 14, 2007

Profit from binary options

Darin Carter came across a tool that will actually give your website or blog a grade. Not only does this site Grade your Website, it tells you whats wrong with it from a SEO Standpoint.

Website Grader is a free SEO tool that provides an SEO score for your website with custom search engine optimization and marketing advice for your website. Use the form above to enter your website, your keyword phrases and your competitors to receive a report about the marketing effectiveness of your website.

Subscription to the site is totally free and it even gives you a chance to put your site up against other sites in your industry!

You can generate a report for your blog just by entering your URL and nothing else. However, you won’t be allowed to compare your blog to others unless your subscribe. I entered my blog into Website grader and got a grade of 99/100.

A website grade of 99 for www.johnchow.com means that of the thousands of websites that have previously been submitted to the tool, our algorithm has calculated that this site scores higher than 99% of them in terms of its marketing effectiveness. The algorithm uses a proprietary blend of over a dozen different variables, including search engine data, website structure, approximate traffic, site performance, and others.

Only 99%? I thought I was better than that! What is your website grade?

That is very good tool. Looks like I missed that post earlier and good I found it now... I have Grade 86 :) is it good?

I've been using the tool for quite some time, one thing I love about the tool is you are able to view your scores at a glance (by adding to dashboard) if you have multiple blogs.

No new posts in 4 days? Or am I just not getting new content?

78/100 but more importantly, it's shown a few issues that we'll be able to work on to improve things.

Nice tool.

My anime website only get 65/100. Looks like I got a lot of work to do.

Its nice to see that I wrote of something that you would write about as well. Its a good feeling. If you would like to check it out here is the link to my post

Someone checked a site that needs a PHD to read the blog LOL that was funny :D

I just started my blog so my website grade won't be that high but at once i have enough content, the grade will speak for itself :)

Its a fun tool period.

I've been using that site for a while now. My grade is a 93. I think that's pretty good, but there's definitely a lot of room for improvement. Anyway, you can see my post where I talk about this tool and 3 others here:

Thanks! :)

There almost needs to be some open development around analyzing sites. sourceforge project or something, where people can come together and throw around ideas on different metrics. One person (or site) making up stuff has no accountabiliyt. I mean .. fucking leapfish spits out absolute shit and they are quite popular.. The algos made would have a lot of other uses and could really benefits people in SEO, blogging, what have you

Nice grade - I only got 72 :-(

Though it's not bad for a 16-day-old blog/domain! :-D

my site ranks 47 and considering i shifted to wordpress few days back this isnt "un"expected

i think that it is just another tool to grade your website

That's the point ;-)

Nice tool, I used it and it gave me a better idea of what I can try to improve. Let's see if it works

thanks to the post of John i got from my previous 71% to 84% just changing a few things the site advised me to do.

Yeah!
www.klajo.com has got 61%
I've just started a month ago with my blog. But how i see it isn't very good by comparing the other grades

Congratulation john!

93 % here

www.rlslog.net

it looks it gives high rankings to almost every website

Hi, johncow.com get 95/100 .....chow they are pretty nearer to you :)

27/100  I'm just a beginner

Bah! 88/100.
Almost there...

I scored a 40. Wow, I suck. I'm even giving away a Nintendo Wii and getting very little traction.

I got a 45/100, lots of work to do. Good to know though.

93/100 great knowing that we only launched less than 3 months ago.

68/100 great knowing that we just launched.

57/100. We launched a week ago so I won't complain. Still PR 0 but Google has indexed 80% of our site already so that's a plus.

i ran this earlier and the info it provides is very useful especially to a new blogger. it has given me some insight into the areas i need to touch on and fix up. this was very useful.

My site got 93/100. Not bad, but not that impressive...

40/100
Great site offered some interesting things about my competitors.

I had a 62/100. I went ahead and reduced the number of keywords in my meta file to 10 and added an email subscription to my feed and I bumped up to 85!

Well my news site score is 96/100. I am very pleased.

I only got a 30 / 100. I guess I have a lot of work to do. Thanks for the tool John!

i´ve tried it too, but it didn`t work. ok my blog is just 1 month old. but i am gona be there pretty soon.

Our site got a 57/100 which is no surprise since it's been online for a week or so. I have a question about Google indexing though...

We have already gotten a lot of traffic.. thanks digg and stumbleupon. But we are ranking for most of our user's posts already and I don't understand why. Google bmw m3 vs. audi rs4 and you'll see us. We showed up the following morning after a user made that post.

We have 0 pagerank, no links other than those in digg, and no publicity at all. Does google like .us names or is it literally because of the page title?

Geez, I rank an 85 for one of my sites, but another larger site of mine only ranks like a 65. Very odd.

Maybe you did a better job in optimizing your smaller site...

I got my blog started yesterday (thanks to John Chow). Its grade is 23% - I guess it's a good start.

It seems like this site isn't very accurate...since Mr. Chow only got 99/100 :)

I got 83/100. I thought that was fairly good considering my sites only been up for a month.

Is this another John Chow evil?? I wonder... The site seems to be very coo. Check an interesting post on the tool / John / Darin and Internet Giants on my blog.

Cool tool.
Thank you for sharing.

I got 95.

This tool is definitevely cool. After doing few things that they suggested my rank went up from 86 to 96!

That tool is inaccurate in many things. I wonder what did you changed that raised the % grade of your site. For my site it says has no del.icio.us submissions while it does have (and one is from alexking). The Readability Level seems to be based on how often we use common words and nothing tech related.

As i said, a good entertainment tool, nothing more nothing less.
