Too many ahs, ums, and other vocal pauses.

Don Wilson June 21, 2007 at 12:08 pm

Yea, I was wondering if he actually watched himself after recording each segment.

website copywriter June 22, 2007 at 2:11 am

Still got me hooked though; I mean, what WOULD John Chow do…

Did anyone notice how he might have said “Chong Chow” toward the end there? I can’t be too sure though.

devtrench June 21, 2007 at 11:51 am

Ha ha, this is a great video. While I have a bit of a different strategy for my blog, I do often find myself asking this question :) While I agree that the commentator isn’t all that great, I really like these video blogs, and not everyone is a Stone Phillips or Ann Curry.

website copywriter June 22, 2007 at 2:14 am

He did alright, didn’t he — got me smiling, too. There’s a really “happy” element in his tone.

imakemoneyonline.tv June 21, 2007 at 11:57 am

Thanks for the mention John!

as for the “ahs, ums” comment, I’m not a professional broadcaster, just somebody having fun ;-)

Internet Tv June 21, 2007 at 6:16 pm

well it was a good video!

website copywriter June 22, 2007 at 2:18 am

Don’t sweat it, man — that was a great show. So are there promotional items coming out soon? Bracelets, shirts that has WWJCD on them LOL?

Brilliances June 22, 2007 at 4:16 am

Hey man, I thought it was great! Thanks for taking the time to make the vid. I know how much effort it takes to cut something like that!

blogcrowds June 21, 2007 at 11:59 am

This is so freaking anonying, the green screen with super slow “what would John Chow do” is killing me.

Should I write reviews? Should I take donations? Should I sell text links? Do you really need John Chow to answer those questions?

Alex Ion June 21, 2007 at 1:23 pm

I second that.

Everyone wants more money so you don’t need to ask what would John Chow do about that.

John Chow is good because it gives tips/info … but not because of that movie. I wouldn’t watch it in a million years, but I would definitely read JC again!

Steven June 21, 2007 at 2:34 pm

I know he said he isn’t a professional broadcaster but this is just plain bad. He could have easily taken out the super slow repetitive what would john chow do shots and edit all the mistakes.

I’ll give him points for thinking of the idea and of course having john post it on his blog but nothing beyond that. Just like how Diggers love to digg anything related to digg (bonus points if its about Kevin Rose – founder of Digg -), this was no exception.

However, as Calculon once said to Bender (from Futurama), “That was so bad it gave me cancer”.

blogcrowds June 21, 2007 at 4:06 pm

A better question would be

“Should I place more ads eventhough it might irrate readers?

What would John Chow do?

John would take the risk, he knows that if he write more quality content readers are interested in, visitors won’t mind the ads”

Should I sell text links? No shite Sherlock

——-o <– funny video

o <- you

Hum.. I don’t remember how they usually draw this..
anyway you don’t get that’s just a funny video? (with annoying background rumor on the green parts)

:D

Sorry for the double comments
I forgot to &ltize all the <

Aaron Cook June 23, 2007 at 12:46 am

Good or not, or annoying or not, the bottom line is that this exposure will undoubtedly make him more money. And that’s why he made the video.

It doesn’t really matter much whether or not the video was any good. It was a smart move on his part. I know I wasn’t featured here today – but he certainly was!

the trasher June 21, 2007 at 12:02 pm

thanks, for do this video, thanks for all advice you give us to make us best bloggers.

as you can see, i was doing my homework, i ‘ve been reading your free pdf and for example now i have my own domain .com.ar you ‘ve said that it is necessary before the first post. i have changed it recently and my blog is running since march, but i like to think that never is too late. are you agree?

i have already wrote you an email a few weeks ago, i hope your answer soon!!!

best regards.

Geeks are Sexy June 21, 2007 at 12:06 pm

This must be the most annoying video I’ve ever listened to..

You like having your ego flattered hey John?

Win an Ipod Shuffle EASY June 21, 2007 at 12:18 pm

JC should make some WWJCD bracelets!

Win an Ipod Shuffle EASY June 21, 2007 at 12:22 pm

BTW, it was a pretty annoying video. I’m not sure if making a video like that would actually attract people to the site.

shaun June 21, 2007 at 6:59 pm

Yeh I agree that video was prety lame.

Kenneth June 21, 2007 at 12:34 pm

While the video isn’t perfect I give Mark props for trying something new. Not everyone has a broadcasting degree and everything doesnt have to be perfect. I second the motion for WWJCD bracelets!

website copywriter June 22, 2007 at 2:22 am

The bracelets are a good idea, I was actually thinking about it as soon as I read the title of this post.

The video was amateurish, but I still thought it was funny at the least.

Suzie Cheel June 21, 2007 at 12:41 pm

I like the idea, gave me some food for thought first thing this morning

Big Cajun Man June 21, 2007 at 12:48 pm

What would John Chow do? He’d make money off YOUR video! He’s making money off YOU right now! Wait a minute, he is making money off me too! AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Alex Mould June 21, 2007 at 12:59 pm

A box to type in and get what you would do would make me rich.

Rhys June 21, 2007 at 1:06 pm

I’ve only got enough time for either buying a Wii game or buying a sandwich in my lunch break.

What would you do?

MrGPT June 21, 2007 at 1:23 pm

Wii Game.

It was a good video. Remember he is not a professional broadcaster.

James June 21, 2007 at 1:27 pm

Not a bad video. If your John Chow, other people will even make videos for you. :)
I would run my domain in the video a bit more though.

Empress June 21, 2007 at 2:17 pm

I liked the video. I like that he took a chance to try something different :) I also think we need some of those bracelets!

Internet Tv June 21, 2007 at 6:18 pm

definatly

DerekBeau June 21, 2007 at 2:30 pm

That video was terrible. It’s not John Chow’s fault, the host was just so ridiculously annoying. There was no value, it wasn’t entertaining, it wasn’t informative… I won’t be watching anymore of those videos.

A Tentative Personal Finance Blog June 21, 2007 at 2:37 pm

When is that interview of you with the dual monitors coming out? Or did it already come out?

website copywriter June 22, 2007 at 2:24 am

The one on print, you mean? I think it already has.

Bob June 21, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Make a quick clip on John and get linked, smart move.

Internet Tv June 21, 2007 at 6:19 pm

i dont think that was the guys real intention man

Ades June 21, 2007 at 4:22 pm

Is it pronounced as the guy says “John Chauw” or “John Chouw”? John please enlighten us.

Stu June 21, 2007 at 4:58 pm

FFS People. Give the guy a break.

It’s easy to sit back and take potshots at someone for having a go.

How many of you have actually tried something out of the box, rather than doing the same thing every day, wondering why nothing you do ever has any impact.

You do understand that there’s a human being behind that video, trying to make a contribution to what is a pretty stale and stagnant blogosphere.

Before you sit back and lop off someone’s head, put yourself out there and try something different, see how it feels to be publicly flogged the way you have flogged Mark.

Grow up people.

Aaron Cook June 23, 2007 at 1:01 am

I agree. The guy did his best to produce a video that was interesting and such. So what if it wasn’t the most awesome video of all time.

Bottom line is that he got a post written specifically about him here on John’s site. How many of us can actually say that?

Shine on,
Aaron

Casey June 21, 2007 at 5:54 pm

Interesting video. The repetitive green video clip got annoying, and I couldn’t tell if he was insulting, or complimenting you.

free website traffic June 22, 2007 at 1:51 pm

I don’t think he was insulting John — if anything, he was trying to emulate him and probably thought humor was the best approach.

Ed Lau June 21, 2007 at 6:38 pm

I thought all these questions were quite…self explanatory.

NO! I will NOT sell Text Link Ads! I don’t want their money!

Gdog June 21, 2007 at 9:15 pm

Pretty funny video…they love John Chow!

Knuckles10 June 21, 2007 at 10:01 pm

What WAS actually happening in that green clip? Looks like John accidentally set off some stage pyrotechnics.

free website traffic June 22, 2007 at 1:53 pm

I think it was a clip from one of those parties at Computex last year.

Vincent Chow June 22, 2007 at 1:24 am

I do practice this “what would John Chow do”, that’s why I sold two links to sex toys sites. By the way, just noticed that John have 13 links right now, maybe I should not limit mine too much as well.

Ivan - Vida Sana June 22, 2007 at 4:43 am

45n5 has good videos.

Starboykb June 22, 2007 at 6:28 am

What would JC do! I am wondering now. But I will kept coming back checking out his blogs for an answer. Probably the best thing to do instead watching that video.

Valentin June 22, 2007 at 7:34 am

mood status = and
I see lot of “nice” people around, axperienced – as to count them online age. Most of them are so “regular” they can`t effort being as human usual behavior (any new idea is violently denied). So, I wonder if any of them could be trustfull to be watched closely to grab some knowledge for future …

mood status = changing to
Anyway, who is John Chow ?
Eh, don`t tell me, I gonna find out myself and keep you updated.

Andrew Rouhafzai June 22, 2007 at 9:02 am

I love all the negative comments on this post, because that was a topic covered in the video, lol.

ricdes June 22, 2007 at 10:43 am

The “what would john chow do” part of the broadcast simply sucks. the sound is annoying…

Paul June 22, 2007 at 1:33 pm

Cool little video.

Alex June 23, 2007 at 12:46 pm

Funny video xD

website copywriter June 24, 2007 at 9:54 am

What would John Chow do…the best way to answer that is to read his posts daily and pick up as much stuff as you can.

John Cow July 4, 2007 at 9:52 am

That was uhm…stupid.
