While at Computex Taipei, I had planned to go to the top of the Taipei 101 but I never made it because, well, this picture should explain the reason. Sometimes, having the tallest building in the world isn’t such a great thing.

Looks scary but cool at the same time.
wow, cool. it has an illusion effect if we scrolling the screen up and down.
may i submit the picture to moillusion dot com John?
As long as you give credit, I don’t have a problem with it.
Just imagine BUILDING that. haha
oh man.. whoever was the chief behind that prob retired after
Thats very cool! Love seeing the building fade away into the cloud deck. I would of loved to have been at the top during the photo, to shoot a time lapse of the clouds moving through over time.
Great photo.
It looks scary.
I thought Evil John Chow won’t feel scared.
Not scare. It’s just if you go up when there is a cloud, all you see is…. cloud.
I’m sure there was a few people you knew growing up that thought you had your head in the clouds John….
Little did they know you would turn out as evil as you did. I bet you have changed very little….
Personally, I still would’ve gone up. Sure, there were clouds there for a while…but the story lasts forever.
Then again, John always has the story of NOT going up!
And for a marketer, that’s just as good.
lolz, wow, i guess the clouds over the view to see the bottom
Damn, that’s an awesome picture. Very ominous.
Oh…. My… God!!!!
I really don’t know what’s going on in that picture. Is it a fire? Is it fog? What the heck is that supposed to be a picture of?
Cool Nonetheless!

Either way….won’t find me up there.
I won’t be up there either! It’s slightly out of the comfort zone and I have no purpose to be up there unless it’s going to help me in some other way.
No way!

Haha clouds, fog, fire, angels, silver surfer passing through…whatever it is, I could never go up that high either. I’d start puking at the 21st floor, for sure.
There was a great engineering show on the Discovery Channel a few years back that taped the construction of Taipei 101. It was really interesting to see it being built.
I think I caught that one, but I wasn’t able to finish it. Now I wish I did though.
Bad luck
what a cool picture!
do you have any more tour photos in taiwan?
It’s on fire!
great photo…..very scary!
Beautiful!!
nice picture!

That looks cool man. Did u just not want to go up? Or they barred all visitors? It would be cool to some sort of precipitation from up there.
ttgapers
I think you can still see the view if you go up there because you are not actually going to the very top of the tower. You can see in the picture that the cloud only block the tip of it. anyway, it would still be better to go up there when the weather is nice!
No, the cloud didn’t block the tip. The cloud has covered the top 10 floors!
OMG, thats great. Were anyone there in those floors ?
I’m sure there were. They don’t shut down the 101 view deck due to cloud.
It’s like going to the Grand Canyon on a foggy day. All you see is a handrail.
wow wtf… i wonder what it looks like above the clouds.
John, I’ve heard many people say you have your head in the clouds … now you’ve proved them wrong LoL
Man that was your perfect opportunity to meet the Care-Bears!!
wow, thats awesome. Can’t wait to visit Asia now.
Nice pic its prety scary

It’s a great picture, but that’s pretty much what the weather was like last week!

It’s ominous in some ways, because there are at least two towers now being built that will easily overshadow 101… one in Dubai, the other in Shanghai… There are more planned. It’s the coming of the superskyscraper.
Kenneth
At the base of the Sears Tower in Chicago, they have a sign that tells you the visibility distance from the top. I have a feeling it wouldn’t have been very far for you on this day in Taipei.
I wouldn’t want to go up there either! Great picture.
Looks like a scale model.
While in Taipei I went to the night market and recorded this video for my videoblog of a guy throwing 140 balls per minute: http://hombrelobo.com/taiwan/hombrelobotv-baloncesto-en-taiwan/
I also recorded a video at the 101, but it was not that exciting …..
Did you take that photo? It looks professional.
I took it from the 16th floor of the Grand Hyatt hotel.
it looks like a set of boxes arranged on top of each other and it hits the tip of the roof!
Taipei 101 looks like something out of Simcity2000
Didn’t know you do such a great job in taking picutres… nice light.
This, scares me off.
umm … holy shit! I would hate to work all the way up there.
Do earthquakes occur a lot in Taipe? I don’t think I’d want to be anywhere near that tower when it does.
it doesn’t seems that you will be able to see anything up there with those mist..is that mist? clouds? haze?
looks like boxes stacked up on each other
that just looks spooky up there
