Why Making Money Online Is The Best Way To Make Money
The holiday season always reminds me why making money online is the best way to make money. Before getting into Internet marketing, I ran a print and copy shop. During the holidays, we would shut down the day before Christmas and wouldn’t open again until January 2nd of next year. Many normal businesses would shut down for a few days or even a few weeks during the holiday season. While it is nice to take a little break, it’s also a bad use of resources because you have all those assets sitting there doing nothing.
The Internet is a completely different story. My sites make money no matter what time of the year it is. That was driven home to me during Christmas dinner at my parents house. I went to check some stats after the feast and found I was up by over $1,000. On a day when nearly all traditional businesses are closed, I made money. And I made it while enjoying Christmas dinner with the family. It’s pretty hard to find a deal as good as this.
Passive Income Is The Best Income
Most people make money by going after active income. Active income is money made from your time input. The best example of active income is a job – you do your work, you get paid and when you’re not working, you don’t get paid. Passive Income is money made whether you’re there or not. Best example of passive income would be income from investments. Given a choice, I’m sure most people would prefer to make passive income over active income. Why spend your time making money when you can spend it on much more important things?
While some get rich quick gurus have promoted it as such, blogging isn’t 100% passive income. From an Internet marketing stand point, it’s one the less passive income sources available because it requires a substantial and on going time commitment. Blogging isn’t like affiliate marketing where you set up the landing page, add Google AdWords or Facebook Ads and watch the money roll in (it’s really not that simple but that’s for another post).
Blogging does allows the advantage of making money 24/7 and that helps to create a passive income stream. However, most blogs require a hands on approach so you should really enjoy the topic you’re blogging about. If you don’t, then the chances of your blog making you money 24/7 is extremely small. I gotta agree with you on that. Passive income is certainly an ideal thing for most people. I really wish I can create a strong passive income stream so I don’t need work get up early each day to work my ass off.

I follow a very similar formula in my business that instead of my blog I have a product in which I sell online.

Blogging is probably one of the most slow ways to make money online although it can be the most rewarding. Or so I find.

You can do a lot more than just buy food with yuor money you made online, especially if you make the cash that John does.
It’s nice to know that when you’re sleeping that you’re making money. I had an internet business that was making me a grand a day overnight, every night. Now that is ideal.
My mom kept telling me to work in a mac or a franchise part-time because she doesnt think working online is even possible until she saw cash in my hand
.. Believe me when i say this, people can make tons of legit money online. We just need to do things we are passionate about. I dont make crazy money right now since i am also a full time business student but i am going to be on that level sooner

I think that passive income is rarely 100% passive. It takes some management and commitment. But spending 4 hours per week or a few hours per day is 1,000 times better than wasting 10 hours a day working in a dead end job.
I agree with you here. “Passive” is more a quantitative than qualitative description.
The only real passive income would be a certificate of deposit or savings account.
Yah, I agree with both of you. I think it can onky be considered passive if it is just our part time job for example.
But when we put our whole heart and soul into it, it will become an active income.

Promote bookmakers, I have a list on my site. It’s 100% passive income. People sign up and then you take a slice of whatever they lose in a month. Some bookies operate on a no negative roll over basis so each month the net of your gamblers is a loss you make money, for life. Get a couple of hundred fairly active punters and never work again. Simples.
My goal over the next couple of years is to build enough passive income to support me and my family.
Now i’d like to run my first blog project. Wish it will be the best way to make money online in 2010

You won’t make any serious money but you should see a few hundred in your first 4 or 5 months.
Internet marketing is a like driving a car, if you take your foot off the gas pedal car would stop, sooner or later. Forget about passive incomes and lying on the beach with your pinky toes in the sand that wont happen to you if you are serious about making it.
As long as your notebook is on and you’re working, you can be wherever you like, pinkie toes in the sand included! That is the true beauty of internet marketing and blogging – you are so not office bound!

Yeah, blogging is half passive income in my opinion. We work 2 or 3 hours a day, and get 24 hours income.

I have one large question. In the timeline of a blog running several ad campaigns such as mine, when will the income start?
I realize that visitors and their trust for you content is a large factor in which I am receiving about 100 UV per day, however the blog is making next to nothing.
I am trying to turn this into my primary income since I do enjoy writing about the automotive industry but I am curious to know at what sort of readership numbers I can expect to start making money.
If it’s making something, then your on the right track. How do you make more? Get more traffic! If your getting 100 UV’s a day, work into getting 1000 a day.
Get that many visitors a day and your income just increased by 100%. Do it again and again and again. Next thing you know, your making some really good loot.

Lol, well, if your getting 20.00 per every 100 visitors and you increase your traffic to 1000, if your conversions stay the same, you would get an extra 20.00 for each 100. So instead of 20.00, your now making 200.00. Which is higher than a 100% increase. My bad:)
I think one of the reason why making money is the best way to make money online is that we don’t need to invest a penny to start.
True, but you will invest your time. And in any business, time is money. There will come a time when you will invest both your time and your money.

Passive residual income is the best income. When I first received my Google Adsense cheque back in the days, I was like blow away. It hasn’t stopped me since from earning online, whether it be from direct sales, internet/affiliate marketing, coaching, etc…passive residual income is the only way people get rich. Wealth principle 101.
Robert Kyosaki espouses this model too. We all know what he is all about.

Passive income is where it is. Mostly all of the people making the big bucks no matter what field they are in are making passive income. I can’t wait to get to that point. It’s a lot of work. A ton of work up front, but well worth it. Another great blog.
Tell me about a ton of work up front. I’m fronting getting my 2 blogs going from scratch. I’ve probably sat here and have added myself manually to around 200blog networks for each of my sites just to get them on the map.

Nice advice John. Back on the early 2009, I thought that making money online is easy. But it gave me nothing until I realize that it does require hardwork and lot of time to develop it.

I just quit my job last year and became a pro blogger, designer and freelancer. Now I make twice as much as a regelar job with online 6 hour word a day, and I love it.
Making money online is great, but most people do not understand that it takes time to build up a quality site that people actually frequent. Blogging is great to provide your input on subjects that you care about, but just because you have a blog doesn’t mean that you are going to making money. Another great post John!
