Why Pay Per Post When You Can Beg
Let’s face it, many sites and blog would love to get reviewed by John Chow dot Com. However, not all can afford the $300 price tag. This is where Beg For Post comes in. Instead of paying for a post, you get down on your knees and beg for it.
You’ve worked for months building a startup on a boostrap budget and the launch is near. How will you get an initial influx of traffic to propel your product/service into viral bliss? Don’t pay off bloggers to promote your startup, beg! Getting started is quick and easy. Fill out the form below, sit back, and wait for Internet stardom. You’re almost there!
- Completely free
- No chicken hats
- No conflicts of interest
- No annoying reality show
- No direct deployments to production
- No premature acquisition announcements

The first beg that was addressed to me came from Scott Dawson of Mac Support. Scott writes:
Now that your site is so popular I don’t have enough money to order a ReviewMe review from your blog.
How about doing the review for free and any revenue I make that day I will give it to you or a charity of your choice?
Very nice Scott. However, you need to work on that begging skills. I expected much better begging from an Apple user. I figure you guys are used to begging for everything. ![]()

Looks interesting at least. Will check it out!
Reply to this commentLooks VERY interesting. The guy who have the idea is a genious and a bit of a joker. But this idea is really good.
John, one warning, the MyAvatars plugin is given an error, images of the avatars are not showing.
Reply to this commentIt’s interesting, but it’s bound to fail.. No one’s gonna give free things for nothing!
Reply to this commentHmmm…lyndonmaxewell, i doubt a bit of that. People in this world are very strange. Sometimes you get suprised.
Reply to this commentOnly time will say.
Made me laugh at least!
By the way, could anyone spare a dollar?
Thanks,

Personally I think this will open a market for exchanges of services.
Say someone sends me a request for a free review, I might want to do it for free, but only if they link to me, or provide me with something else, like write an article for my blog.
Reply to this commentThat’s actually a good point DanyO. While I suspect the beg per post idea is funny, but doomed to utter failure, an exchange could be viable.
Reply to this commentHe does have a sense of humor
Reply to this commentYeah I’m checking it too
Reply to this commentwe gonna try
Reply to this commentthanks
We gonna try also

Let us all know how it works out.

Reply to this commentIt’s what they give to the programmer who’s made a really bade mistake. Also shows p on their 500 code page.

Reply to this commentuhh, one muchacho, bien venido siñor
Reply to this commentHola!
Reply to this commentThat’s pretty funny. Wonder how long they’re going to stay online before PPP hits them with a C/D.
Reply to this commentYeah, probably not too long
Reply to this commentHopefully PPP has a sense of humor about this, nowdays it seems all problems on the internet are resolved by CD letters or lawsuits…
Reply to this commentThey’ve had so much bad press that I doubt they want to try and strong-arm anyone who’s playing a gag like this. If they started making money off it somehow then I can see them wanting to put a stop to it.
Reply to this commentWell in some cases the C&D is required. If you have a mark, you are obligated to protect it. If you don’t purse people using your mark, you can loose it

Reply to this commentAwesome!!! I shall try to make use of it, i mean beg as much as possible..
so john have you decided to write a review for them..
Reply to this commentasusual evil john has a rude comment.. how do u want him to beg more
I begged for post earlier this morning. I got nothing.
I guess I didn’t beg hard enough.
Reply to this commentheh… You won’t get any from him unless it’s good for him.
Reply to this commentit’s like the word say: “beg”…beg again and again, improve the beg thing.
Reply to this commentMaybe you’ll improve and win a beg answer.
Good idea. I’ll try again.

Reply to this commentI just noticed you have nearly 3k readers.Congrats,John!
Reply to this commentHalf of it is “fake” readers because Google counts theirs twice..
Reply to this commentAhaha! Nice finding.. John, I did one request over there. hehe
Reply to this commentThis one looks cool :p
John Chow, I love you. Your blog that is. Very funny.I notice I have almost half as many subscribers as you. Not bad for 4 months.
Reply to this commentwhat king of “love” are you talking about?
Reply to this commentGet yourself another mogul Wesley.. Chow is my love!
(how difficult is it to write a comment when referencing two different people with the same first names
)
Reply to this commentHey guys settle down, there’s plenty of John to go around
Reply to this commentI can’t wait to see the first video post of someone on his knees begging for a post . . . . the thought came across my mind, but i rather get a net and scrape a fountain for loose change to come up with the $300 =)
Reply to this commentvideo is much better
Reply to this commentBegging is not my style. I guess I have no choice but work for it.
Great idea!
Reply to this commentOh.. that would be pretty good begging. Who wants to go first?
Reply to this commentMe, me, me…pick me. Wait…
Reply to this commentHey, nice find! I’ve been doing PPC for a website (www.buddystumbler.com). We’ve recently stopped advertising because we’re low on funds! Hope we get posted, thanks John!

Reply to this commentthe site’s pretty funny but not really organized. but i guess it doesn’t matter bc scott dawson got his free link out of it.
Reply to this commentI think it’s fine organization for a start.. thought later he might want to categorize all the “targets”
Reply to this commentI think it is hard to get a post from popular bloggers ( e.g. JohnChow.com ). We get the post, what does John Chow get? Unless we give him some incentives ( other than money like Wii )
Reply to this commenthaha…
Yeah.. I’ve been begging John for years now
Reply to this comment
Reply to this commentunless exchange with something worth $300 …
Reply to this commentI think he is getting a linkback everytime some1 begs him there..
Reply to this commentThe whole thing just not right
Reply to this commentIn what respects? That’s a pretty open ended statement.
Reply to this commentThis is just said…. but funny at the same time. I thought it was a spoof like “Get a First Life” by Darren Barefoot.
Reply to this commentLikewise
Reply to this commentMake a video you say….hmmmm
Reply to this commentI am not to good at begging, I have been begging my wife to come home for 9 months now, and she will not budge lol.
Reply to this commentOh that sucks
Reply to this commentBegging? No thanks! I’ll figure out a way to get an extra $300!
Reply to this commentGood luck!
Reply to this commentThat’s a great idea!!! Wow.
Reply to this commentIt wouldn’t ever going to work.. Who’s going to give out free reviews for nothing? Beats me..
Reply to this commenta “good sould” will do that
Reply to this commentThat might be limited as well.
How wide will a good soul stretch out his arms?
Reply to this commentIf you have good content and someone likes what they read on your site, they may give you a plug for nothing.
Reply to this commentSo john are you willing to do beg posts? Let me know if you are. My revenues might buy you a coffee.
Reply to this commentThe coffee needs to cost $300!
Reply to this commentMy revenues might not buy you a coffee, but I can give you a life-long sidebar link on my blog…
Reply to this commentCmon John, hook us up!
haha
Reply to this commentIf you need traffic from a blog that gets some decent traffic I still have a spot left:
http://www.harpzon.com/articles/93/1/Spreading-The-Link-Love-Batch-2/Page1.html
Reply to this commentI might take you up on that offer
Reply to this commentYeah, I guess this would fall under the “Nice-Try” category, but I wonder, if it’s a good beg, will you actually review a good site for free?
Reply to this commentWhat is your opinion John? Will you be doing these in the future? I suppose you don’t want to say, because you will have a million requests and a lot more work on your hands trying to do reviews. Actually, if you do one review that is exactly what will happen.
There is another contest for you, do a full site review for 1 in 10 that do reviews of you. Can be a lottery contest. This time you could go for the keywords “king of the world” or something.
Reply to this commentLine your worlds up first. There is little crossover from this blogging for money and food blogs or travel blogs etc. ad infinitum. I’ve no increased traffic from John’s link. People may click in, but they don’t stay. My readers didn’t even comment when I reviewed John’s blog, although I wrote the review to my audience and slanted it to explain why I would even do it.
I read here because there are other things going on here besides blogging for money. I like to be aware of what goes on in worlds other than mine. Apparently my readers don’t give a hoot.
I have had one request to swap reviews, but it simply doesn’t work for either party.
When you have all become rich and look around to say, “What now?” there will be all kinds of lifestyle blogs to show you what else there is. Maybe.
Reply to this commentJohn,a bit off topic here but, does anyone have stats as to how much traffic it can bring to a site when it is reviewd by JohnChow? if the numbers are good, I think this would be a good think to display, as more people would pony-up the money to get reviewed.
Reply to this commentWe got a bit from our review post, but not as much as having a top commentator spot brings.
Reply to this commentNever say never, John Chow.
Reply to this commentJust when you are sure you are on top of the world, the world can topple.
Ooops! Forgot to check the notify me by email of follow up comments.
Reply to this commentHow about a post on getting more RSS subscribers?
Reply to this commentThat would be a good subject. RSS is still grossly under used on most blogs I read, including my own.
Reply to this commentSo how long are you excepting beggars? You’ve inspired me to launch blog and i’ll be begging hard to get you to review it. You, guru of all guru’s in the online advertising market are the only choice of for us who are reaching for a level where we may be able to take shelter in your shadow of success!
Reply to this commentMy belief is that - Never. Pay up folks, for a review..
Reply to this commentHaha, sucks for him.
Reply to this commentlol, stuart you are becoming evil
Reply to this commentPlease Please Please review my site for free. I’m begging you!

“hi john, happy traveling around the world. visit prague, and i’ll show you around (even bring a local buff with me), and buy you a good beer or two. this site is a site offering travel and living advice. good stuff. thank you very much.”

Reply to this commentI dont know I just think its stupid in my opinon :\
Reply to this commentBegForPost…now why didn’t I think of that? I couldn’t get over it; It’s a hoot!@#$
