It probably involves some heavy networking and a good reputation. Either way, you’re able to leverage those assets into a great contest that benefits your readers (prizes), you (more traffic), and your sponsors (exposure, new sign-ups). It’s a win, win, win.

It doesn’t hurt to try. It’s free to enter. A blog post gets you 10 entries, and you can keep doing things to gain more entries (like commenting, etc.).
