Have you done your taxes yet? I can hear some of you groaning already. It’s now mid-April and that means one thing: the tax filing deadline is quickly approaching! If you live in the US, you have until this Thursday, April 15th to file. That’s not much time at all.

Thankfully, there’s pretty good online tax filing software available for US residents including TurboTax, TaxACT, and H&R Block At Home (for Canadians, QuickTax is a good one). Check out the reviews of each.

And in order to promote the benefits of quick and easy online tax filing, the Money Crashers personal finance blog is holding an awesome contest giving away 3 brand new Apple iPads.

file taxes online for free

Here’s how you can win one of these hot new gadgets:

First, check out the Online Tax Filing 2010 Giveaway page on MoneyCrashers.com. To enter, all you need to do is sign up for the contest mailing list. In addition, you can perform certain fun social actions on the site in order to gain entries for the random drawing of 3 iPads on April 16th. You don’t need to buy anything to participate and you can still win even if you’ve already filed your taxes. Below is the full list of “actions” to gain entries:

I don’t think race has anything to do with being able to win an ipad…now location might be something different :-)

Net Age | Web Design April 10, 2010 at 10:14 pm

LOL, that was very witty indeed! I have the same question about Africans, South Africans in particular, but it has now been answered ;-)

Danny @ aCommunityForBloggers.com April 10, 2010 at 6:41 pm

Great ;) It’s been a while since we’ve seen any contest posts

Profit Addiction April 11, 2010 at 10:00 am

Yeah I’ve noticed the lack too. It seems like there aren’t that many contests anywhere at this point.

Net Age | Web Design April 10, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Heheheheh….taxes are a sensitive topic at the best of times, and nobody likes to pay more than the absolute bare minimum in order to stay out of trouble. Baiting the trap with an iPad hardly gets me excited about paying up….

College To Careers April 11, 2010 at 11:09 am

same here…but you’d be surprised at how much impact the ipad is having on people…some people will do just about anything to win one…

I & O April 11, 2010 at 7:56 am

Hey John,

This is an amazing news… I wasn’t aware of this fact. But surely going to give it a try.

Thanks for informing us about it.

scheng1 April 11, 2010 at 6:00 pm

I hope the government in my country can encourage us to pay tax through lucky draw.

DavidJParsons April 13, 2010 at 1:09 pm

Maybe they will someday

Josh April 12, 2010 at 5:21 am

I suppose if I do win won, I’ll sell it on Craigslist to offset the balance I owe from taxes ;)

Romantic Room April 13, 2010 at 10:15 am

The first comment thread made me laugh. I’m already done with my gf’s taxes, and mine are too complicated so my accountant does it. Good luck everyone!
