Winner of The Unique Blog Designs Citrus Theme

written by John Chow on September 8, 2008

How to make $593 in less than one hour

A big congrats goes out to Vlad Blan of Bloggedin Traffic. Vlad is the winner of the $99 Citrus Theme package from Unique blog Designs. Vlad will have a choice of six sweet flavors to choose from when the time comes to give his blog a new look.

Thanks to everyone who entered and thanks to Unique Blog Designs for giving me the theme to give away. Look for more contests and giveaway real soon.

For those who really like the citrus theme but didn’t win it, then you should consider buying it. Ninety nine dollars isn’t a huge amount to pay for a limited production theme. With a little tweaking, it can look totally custom made. Take a look at what Ed Lau managed to do with his citrus theme.

Well I don’t really like Ed Lau’s blog with that theme, I think its better originally but that looks crap!

Abdul September 9, 2008 at 2:32 am

Well I don’t really like Ed Lau’s blog with that theme, I think its better originally but that looks crap! Infact my design on my blog would be better than that!

Cash Gators September 8, 2008 at 8:17 am

Well, the theme is rather nice but from my opinion, it doesn’t look like something I would use.

I don’t honestly see it worth as much as $99 but it’s a nice little customizable theme and at least it offers the ease of customizing it.

Blogging Millionaire September 8, 2008 at 12:27 pm

I think it is worth $99 for people interested in that theme. If it’s easy to customize then it’s probably worth it.

Congratulations Vlad Blan :)

I know I know, this is the wrong place to ask it, but where did the Income for August post go? Or wasn’t there anything in August?
Just curious … :)

No premium theme is worth any money at all. There are far better themes out there for free. The only way to stop the madness is to make the current crop of premium themes available for free. Currently I’m working on derivative versions of famous premium themes like Thesis and Revolution. After that I’m going after the Unique Blog Design guys since all their stuff looks the same and isn’t worth $1.00 let alon $99.00. I’m going to release them for free on my blog. Sure, it will cause a storm (and it already has) but someone has got to burst this bubble.

Anyone who has spent any time online will tell you that building alliances is one of the most important things in order to be successful. With an attitude like yours, good luck getting anyone to take you seriously let alone want to read your blog.

Yeah, what a way to get back at them. You must have heavy karma.

I have never thought about purchasing a template. I just figured there were enough free ones out there to do the job well. Well, I didn’t find that to be the case. The more and more I looked the better blogs had custom templates that they purchased and then tweeked them. Mentally it makes you feel better about what you have and it shows in the posts and what you offer your readers.

Jake September 9, 2008 at 2:44 pm

I think that the case comes down to content is king mantra. If you fill your blog with copied or just-add-personal-opinion content from somewhere in the web, then you are not stepping up from the blogging crowd. Now, copy paste the case of widely distributed blog theme. Could work, but feel free to provide something more than others.

Hey Mr Anonymous, why the secrecy? What are you scared of?

And, FYI, my blog is 3 days old and is already attracting hundreds of unique visitors per day. What is you blog doing? Oh, that’s right, you haven’t got one, your Mr Anonymous.

Think before your write something. Wordpress is open source, as is the code used to develop themes. Charging money for modifications of open source code is not cool.
