Interested to see what hte improvements are for the dashboard and the write post features. Been having some issues with write post, and hopefully this fixes it. All in all, I have to say that I think I like WordPress 2.3 better. Oh well.

    1. Finally a fix for the mess that was 2.5

      1. I agree, I hope it fixes the little bugs as well as the security stuff.

I just read a post exactly like that some place else. I think I’ll right about that too…

  5. Rats. I guess this is a good thing but I JUST downloaded 2.5 and built my blog using that version. I hope it’s not too time consuming or difficult to upgrade.

Upgrading is pretty simple as long as you follow the instructions…

      1. I upgraded yesterday. Not too difficult. I was just a little scared since I’m new to this… but since I only had a handful of comments on my blog at this point, it wasn’t that much of a risk. 😕

  6. Thanks for the heads up :p Guess Ill have to upgrade a few of my blogs tonight…

  7. coolmom says:

It’s not too early? Should wait a bit? 😐

    1. Terry Tay says:

It doesn’t take much to upgrade so it always makes sense to do so especially after a new release like 2.5

    Thanks for the update John
But it would be really nice if you write a comprehensive and easy guide on how to upgrade from an older version of WordPress

  13. Doobus says:

Anyone know if this update addresses the custom field issues? Here is the support ticket I am talking about: http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6457

  14. If you use wordpress as your power, then you should see where it says “upgrade now to 2.5.1” all over your dashboard. What a great service John Chow has afforded us. Thanks John.

  15. Mike Huang says:

I upgraded as soon as I saw that there was a new version. Hackers are moving quick 😉

I just installed my wordpress 2.5 two weeks ago and now they have another upgrade.

  17. hahahahahahahahaahahahahaha

Predicted on my blog 2 weeks ago. Predicted on this blog last night.
Anyway did this upgrade to the upgrade today and the only weird thing so far is the plugins wont reactivate as a group. Had to do them all one at at time, but I’m willing to believe THAT bug is on my own system.

  18. Zero and Up says:

I still haven’t even gone up to 2.5 yet – I’m lazy about that 😆

  19. jhay says:

I just did the upgrade but that annoying “Please update now.” strip is still showing up in the dashboard.

The same thing happened to my other blogs after upgrading. Another bug I guess, but isn’t this release supposed to be a fix? 🙄

  20. Sha says:

They are really on a roll with updates. I bet another one is coming soon.

  21. Hey I know how you guys feel with the tedium of upgrade but remember they are usually months apart and essential to keep your site secure from Malware and Hackers.

Think of it as just another day in the life of a blogger! 😉

  22. Simon Lau says:

Is anyone having Google SiteMap (3.3.0.1) rebuild issues with WordPress 2.5.1? The debug isn’t given me any problems but it says my file isn’t writeable which is a lie seeing as I haven’t touched it :p

    1. Simon Lau says:

I did a reinstall of the plugin and it works fine now 🙂 a little sluggish but working

  23. It took me 15 minutes to upgrade 7 blogs, then another 3 to upgrade one from 2.3.3 to 2.5.1. WordPress rules!

  24. Ryan says:

yes – it was pretty lame to see what was the security issue, an attacker could easily get access to many blogs and I doubt many bloggers would have stolen their databases 🙁 but hopeful there are any secruity issues in this newer versions.. lets hope.. 😐

  25. Panzer says:

Wow.. i had some real troubles with this upgrade. It appears the WP devs have overloaded the post page with too many javascripts, it freezes my firefox. See here. Ive found a cure for that (if it happens to you), the web browser Opera works fine.

  26. Fitness Site says:

how to do this upgrade ? 🙄

  27. Brian Nguyen says:

I’ve tried to upgrade before but got failed. It only showed my Feed page when I go to my website. That was really weird. 🙁

  28. Zath says:

Thanks for the heads-up, i hadn’t heard about this update, hopefully it will fix all the minor little things that bugged us with 2.5. Cheers!

  29. Wade says:

I finally did the upgrade. I wish they just made it automatic like upgrading a plugin. I upgraded my site and my dad’s site today. Now next month.. .another update… Come on WP make it automatic!
