WordPress 3.3.1 Available for Download

This actually took longer than I thought. Normally, when WordPress introduce a brand new release, the point 1 update is only a week or two behind. This time around, WordPress almost went a full month before the maintenance update.

WordPress 3.3.1 is now available. This maintenance release fixes 15 issues with WordPress 3.3, as well as a fix for a cross-site scripting vulnerability that affected version 3.3. Thanks to Joshua H., Hoang T., Stefan Zimmerman, Chris K. and the Go Daddy security team for responsibly disclosing the bug to our security team.

Download 3.3.1 or go to your WordPress Dashboard and choose Updates in your site admin and let the software update itself.

BTW – Matt Mullenweg, the WordPress founder, is now worth $250 million. I chatted with Matt back in June when we were in Seattle. Who would have guessed he was a quarter billionaire?

That sounds worrying, I think I’ll wait for them to iron out the creases before updating in that case.

I would be curious to know what bugs you experienced and to make sure that they were not just related to your theme or local installation. I personally have had no problems and have heard of no real issues from all of the communities that I belong to. Please elaborate on your statement so that others are not deterred from upgrading just because of a possible local issue.

Well I think knowing that a blog is secure would make me want to update for starters. Recently a hacker found a vulnerability in over 4000 non updated wordpress blogs and hacked every single one of them. Are you willing to take that chance? I am not. Fixing compatibility issues is one thing – recovering from a hack disaster is another.

I think this version is greater than old version.

I hope we will enjoy it.
