The invite said, “Free Food! Free Drinks! You can’t say no!” We very rarely say no to a party and when the party is thrown at a place that brews a bunch of beers in house, you don’t have to twist our arms to attend. The World Cyber Games held a party for the media at the Pike Brewing Company. This place is very much like Steamworks in Gastown.
Pike Pub is located at the south entrance to the Pike Place Market on the west side of 1st Avenue, between Pike and Union. The pub features its own micro brewery, a museum and a company store. It was a perfect location to hold a party. The World Cyber Games arranged for three big buses to shuttle media members from QWest Field to the Pike Pub.
As parties goes, the WCG party was a good one. The selection of food wasn’t as great as the selection of beers but not many people complained. Stephen went to town on the hot wings. I bet he is paying for it now. Overall, it was a really good time. We got to sample some great beers and met up with a few other media friends who were covering the games.
