World Cyber Games Media Party at Pike Pub

The invite said, “Free Food! Free Drinks! You can’t say no!” We very rarely say no to a party and when the party is thrown at a place that brews a bunch of beers in house, you don’t have to twist our arms to attend. The World Cyber Games held a party for the media at the Pike Brewing Company. This place is very much like Steamworks in Gastown.
Pike Pub is located at the south entrance to the Pike Place Market on the west side of 1st Avenue, between Pike and Union. The pub features its own micro brewery, a museum and a company store. It was a perfect location to hold a party. The World Cyber Games arranged for three big buses to shuttle media members from QWest Field to the Pike Pub.
As parties goes, the WCG party was a good one. The selection of food wasn’t as great as the selection of beers but not many people complained. Stephen went to town on the hot wings. I bet he is paying for it now. Overall, it was a really good time. We got to sample some great beers and met up with a few other media friends who were covering the games.

Reply to this commentJohn,
The photographs are excellent, the beer seems to be invigorating and the food, what one sees of it, seems tolerable. Everyone on the photos seem to be having a great time.
Okay, for the million dollar question. Should media accept such invitations? Obviously, it is in expectation of a good plug that such a treat is given. What is your take?
Reply to this commentNot only does media accept such invites, they expect it! LOL We are spoiled bunch.
Reply to this commentOne more question - The pike pub has got a nice plug too! What is your take on that one?
Reply to this commentThey got a nice plug because the food and beer was good. If they were bad, like the Space Needle, they would have got a negative review.
