World Cyber Games Media Party at Pike Pub

The invite said, “Free Food! Free Drinks! You can’t say no!” We very rarely say no to a party and when the party is thrown at a place that brews a bunch of beers in house, you don’t have to twist our arms to attend. The World Cyber Games held a party for the media at the Pike Brewing Company. This place is very much like Steamworks in Gastown.

Pike Pub is located at the south entrance to the Pike Place Market on the west side of 1st Avenue, between Pike and Union. The pub features its own micro brewery, a museum and a company store. It was a perfect location to hold a party. The World Cyber Games arranged for three big buses to shuttle media members from QWest Field to the Pike Pub.

As parties goes, the WCG party was a good one. The selection of food wasn’t as great as the selection of beers but not many people complained. Stephen went to town on the hot wings. I bet he is paying for it now. Overall, it was a really good time. We got to sample some great beers and met up with a few other media friends who were covering the games.

so john you & friends was invited to cover the event & blog in your respective blogs?

I got sick looking at all of those wings.

But it seems that they are really good! :)

Johny why always photos of fooddd

Wow that's a lot of chicken wings.

If only they have winning eleven for WCG.

Now that's a wing champion!

 yeah that looks like a party !!!

I don`t think Steven will have enough time away from the `small office` today to write any posts on his site.

I can eat 3 plates of wings not 2 only!! Great Photo

When I grow up I want to be a pub reviewer

“Free Food! Free Drinks! You can’t say no!”
I said no, because i dont like that food, i like homemade food...

leve some stuf for us also .

Beer, now you're talking! Free food I can take or leave but free beer, you lucky so and so.

Nice party, especially, when food and drink are for free :)

Yup... that's a pub alright!

Wings, Beer and Media... Does it get any better than that!

Wow, that was a top party I guess
I've had wings yesterday too... I only managed 10, I think I'll need some extra training to beat your guy

I had to deal with Stephen's chicken wings aftermath :(
Let's just say it was a good thing that he was driving because I had my head out of the window much of the time.

Did Stephen really eat those chilli wings and drank those stouts? It's amazing how much his skinny tummy can store!

stephen eats a bucket of wings! he should stop going for such outings..destructive food eater..

I'm jealous. I want some beer and wings! :)

One more question - The pike pub has got a nice plug too! What is your take on that one?

They got a nice plug because the food and beer was good. If they were bad, like the Space Needle, they would have got a negative review.

John,

The photographs are excellent, the beer seems to be invigorating and the food, what one sees of it, seems tolerable. Everyone on the photos seem to be having a great time.

Okay, for the million dollar question. Should media accept such invitations? Obviously, it is in expectation of a good plug that such a treat is given. What is your take?

Not only does media accept such invites, they expect it! LOL We are spoiled bunch.

Stephen leave something for us to eat

Hahaha...man, first Stephen eats all the food for homeless people and now he's eaten all the wings in Seattle.

Holy crap, did he have a couple of newborns for dessert afterwards?

He must be pregnant :P

mmm beer...it has been awhile since i haven't started drinking early in the morning and finishing late night with my friends...I think i will have to organize something similar :P

It seems that stephen is a food lover lol never will invite you Stephen ;) I will be broke

Man... That dude certainly ate a lot of Chicken.

hahaha

Oh, That photo with the dude sick after eating the plate of chicken was A+!
Fantastic photo

Those wings look pretty good! You guys are lucky!

LOL it really was nice eh John?
