World’s First Twitter Accident

written by John Chow on September 20th, 2008

At the Affiliate Summit dinner, I noticed that our host, Missy Ward, was sitting on a motorized cart with her right leg wrapped in a cast. I asked her how that happen and she told me that she fractured her leg while twittering! I’m pretty sure this will go down as the world’s first Twitter accident.

You might be wondering how does someone fracture their leg while twittering. Well, I’ll let this video explain it. If more people start injuring themselves on Twitter, I’m sure the government will step in and put a warning labels on it.

“Warning! The use of Twitter without due care or attention maybe hazardous to your health.”

It’s important to note that no DUI’s were had — it was just one glass of wine ;-)

However, I think I should have gotten the extra collision insurance on this thing for all wheelies I’ve been doing.

Catch ya later John, when I roll through the show floor.

OMG, the first twitter accident. Couldn’t say this is funny, because as it is… it is a painful experience. Nobody would like to go through what Missy did. I had a sprained ankle once and the pain was really really debilitating, I couldn’t run errands, I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom with my body weight piling down the sore ankle. You guessed it, I am sympathetic. It’s no joke really!

A fair warning to all too… if you’re walking or running, focus. If you’re Twittering, stop, sit down and focus.

It had to happen. Of course, it brings up the question - what’s the most exotic place that you’ve twittered from?

I guess Dragon Naturally Speaking will have to come out with a Twitter edition for handsfree Twittering. :)

Pity she didn’t get rich from this accident. I thought she could sue Twitter and get several million bucks in compensation.

John,Sorry to hear about Missy’s accident. Maybe everyone should stop drinking wine while twittering and walking for breast cancer charities? Sounds like an indoor activity to me!
Shawn Collins just invited me to Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas next January 2009.

It was an real honor to meet with you at BlogWorld Expo 2008. Yours was the first blog I subscribed to in July 2009. You were very kind to me, at the MArket Leverage dinner, and we laughed over Michael Kwan crashing a Segway v.2.0! That violates the laws of physics as the Segway is designed to remain upright no matter what.

Only the legendary Michael Kwan is the only human being on the face of the earth to have crashed a Segway! Nice riding Michael!
Respectfully, Nicholas Chase - future Super Affiliate and Segway ‘non-crashee’!
