Would You Like To Be My Friend?
After a lot of poking from friends, I have finally created a Facebook profile. However, I’m feeling kinda lonely because there’s only ten friends in my network. If you would like to be my friend, then feel free to add me.
The friend who got me into Facebook, Greg Morgan, has also started an I read JohnChow.com group. If you’re a reader of this blog and you have a Facebook account, then consider joining that group. I really don’t know what we’ll be doing there but I’m sure it’ll be something exciting. Who knows, I may even have a group prize or something.
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet. Facebook is also the site that turned down the multi-billion dollar buyout offer from Yahoo. That took guts! I hope it don’t come back to bite them in the butt.

I think Facebook is brilliant. I have caught up with so many old friends.
I have added you John, but I have heard that facebook has meant that several forums have lost income. Do you think that by having a facebook profile it will be good for johnchow.com or bad?
Either way I wish you well.
G.A.
PS, I sent you an email, could you reply when you have time.
Reply to this commentI can only see it as another way to network with more people. Facebook has a great user face to link pictures. Make sure you load up lots of pictures with friends so they can link you.
Reply to this commentFacebook quietly introduced itself to one of my mates, then spread like a disease through my immediate social network. Within days I was chatting with friends overseas who were generally very lazy when it comes to keeping up communication (since they left the country). In that sense it has been fantastic.
I avoided it for a long time due to my deep seeded myspace hatred…

Could you put a few things about FaceBook on there? I am wandering around and seeing little in the way of how to use it. My cousin found me the other day though - that was really cool (he’s my _only_ friend
and he has a lot of friends.
I like ryze.com - look me up if you go there. It’s been around for quite awhile and quite intuitive IMO.
I’ll add you John! I need a friend or two eh?

Reply to this commentJohn on Facebook — very interesting indeed. Was wondering though, are you on other social networking sites, too? MySpace, Multiply, maybe even Friendster?

Reply to this commentI’m not on Facebook so I wouldn’t really know first hand what it’s about. I wonder how many friends John has by now…
Reply to this commentI recall being a member of Six Degrees and Spoke many many years ago. Then LinkedIn really took off as a Professional network, up to 3 degrees of separation
Now I’m part of Facebook, and it shows a lot of promise, especially allowing you to bookmark your favorite articles and blogs to your profile.
Like the old cliche, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Sorry, I’m a myspace person. lol
Reply to this commentI’m a MySpace, Facebook and Hyves hater - I don’t quite get what the possible advantage of using such sites might be; you often look at terribly looking profiles designed without any taste (especially the issue with Myspace) - not quite my style…
Reply to this commentSure John, I didn’t know you needed more friends
