Yes! I Can Fit My Apple iPad In My Pocket!

written by John Chow on April 13, 2010

The Big Idea Mastermind

Who says you can’t fit the new Apple iPad into a pocket? As you can see the above photo and below video, the iPad fits in the pocket of my Scottevest just fine. And the amazing thing is that’s not even the biggest pocket! The Travel Vest features 22 pockets, which should be more than enough for even the geekiest of gadget geeks.

The coolest feature of the Scottevest has to be the patented Weight Management System and NoBulge system. Normally, when you add a 1.5lb device the size of an iPad into one side of a vest, it will sag on that side. However, the Travel Vest remains perfectly level with no hint that you’re packing an iPad inside your jacket.

iPad and Scottevest

All of the jackets and vests that Scottevest sells are iPad compatible (as long as you order size M and above). The Travel Vest is available in three colors and with 22 pockets, it can double as a carry on bag at the airport. The Travel Vest sells for $100 and comes with a 30 days money back guarantee. If you have an Apple iPad, the Scottevest is a must have accessory. Look for it at this week’s Dot Com Pho.

This is crazy John! Leave it to you to discover something like that!

College To Careers April 14, 2010 at 7:47 am

hahahaha, leave it to John to wear a Scottevest :-P

this almost seems like a review post…

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 9:51 am

Read his disclaimer and privacy policy to know more … that one is interesting.

Michael Kwan April 13, 2010 at 8:21 pm

The vest is kinda pricey at $100, but that auto-leveling thing I did not know about. How does that work? Without it, the ScottEVest is just a vest with a bunch of pockets.

Gary April 13, 2010 at 8:45 pm

I purchased a Scottevest 6-7 years ago, one of the original jackets. One of the best jackets for travel, hands down.

They’re definitely not cheap but they offer way more features compared to other jackets. That jacket above for $100 only is worth every penny.

John Chow April 13, 2010 at 8:49 pm

I don’t know how the weight management thing works but it works very well. No one can tell I’m packing an iPad in my vest.

Profit Addiction April 13, 2010 at 8:55 pm

Are they bullet proof? ;-)

John Chow April 13, 2010 at 11:00 pm

Would be cool if it was, but no, it’s not.

Profit Addiction April 14, 2010 at 7:09 am

Darn! Looks like you have to wear a bullet proof vest then too. Oh well.

Daryl Lorette April 13, 2010 at 9:04 pm

That`s a great looking vest! It would look cool wearing it without the iPad.

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 9:53 am

Yes and there is no sign of ipad … no edge or similar kind of look.

Ivan Walsh April 13, 2010 at 9:06 pm

the ipad is ok but the view behind you is terrific!

Kemp Edmonds April 13, 2010 at 10:20 pm

That’s The view from John’s Dot Com home in West Vancouver. That small tree filled island over John’s left shoulder (viewer’s right side) is Stanley Park. You should come visit Vancouver it’s amazing.

Ivan Walsh April 14, 2010 at 7:58 pm

Some good friends left Ireland last year for Toronto and are real happy there. Safe, clean and nice school. Sounds great.

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 10:15 am

Vancouver is one of the best and beautiful city of world.

Vance Sova April 13, 2010 at 9:23 pm

Hi John,

The vest is cool and I’m amazed that the weight is indeed balanced. 1.5 pounds and it stays straight. Did you have to wait in line to get your iPad?

I wear vests especially in the summer precisely because of the pockets but they tend to slide to whichever side is heavier.

You could have mentioned what the $100 vest is made of. I hope it’s not synthetic because that wouldn’t work in warm weather.

As for the iPad it is bigger than I expected. I hope you’ll post about what you like about it and what it can do.

The iPad was shipped to me from a friend in the US. I never had to line up for it. The vest is made from a breathable Teflon-treated Cotton/Nylon blend and works well in warm and hot weather.

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 10:16 am

Is it water proof as well ?

Irish Garden Home April 21, 2010 at 2:06 am

Now that would be great, especially when you carry a lot of electronic gadgets around with you! SY

Tony April 13, 2010 at 9:23 pm

That is one expensive vest. lol

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 7:52 pm

And for those people who have ipad, iphone and other stuff.

I hope apple will come with a iVest as well.

JackNguyen.com April 13, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Lol

d3so April 13, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Nice find! It’s fashion for gadget-geeks.
Too bad summer is approaching; there’s a need to find other convenient ways to pack the ipad.

Tommy Glenn April 13, 2010 at 11:23 pm

It’s hilarious how the trendy crowd is walking around with their iPad like it’s a glorified iPhone or something. I just got back from the bar and some guy was sitting there with his iPad out and all the girls were like coool what’s that.. I’m thinking to myself.. “Have these people been under a rock the last 3 months or what?” Jeez… I wonder if I can come up with my own tech product here and be successful.. how about the iRock by Pear.. :)

HowToVanish April 14, 2010 at 2:21 am

I hope you have an affiliate code or something; I just bought two. They look like an awesome product. Thanks!

John Chow April 14, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Unfortunately, Scottevest doesn’t have an affiliate program. :(

Yasagun April 14, 2010 at 6:05 am

That is so cool John… :)

Scott April 14, 2010 at 7:33 am

This would be a good idea for schools, but the U.S would probably ban them b/c they would say you could put weapons in them.

Real Estate Marketing Tips April 14, 2010 at 8:30 am

John this by chance wouldn’t be an example of a paid post where you show people how you make money by posting reviews of this vest and give them some juicy links to their site now could it? :)

John Chow April 14, 2010 at 9:48 am

No, this is an example of me liking a product and blogging about. Scottevest has no affiliate program and didn’t pay for this post. All sponsored posts are on this blog are marked as such.

Mike April 14, 2010 at 12:34 pm

John, they have an affiliate program @ http://www.scottevest.com/company/partners.shtml

backpacks April 15, 2010 at 5:52 pm

22 pockets?!? Maybe you’ll be able to ditch your laptop travel bag, and just go with the vest from now on?

ZK @ Web Marketing Blog April 16, 2010 at 7:57 pm

In that case you will have problem in sleeping with your vest

DavidJParsons April 15, 2010 at 10:04 pm
