Blog World Expo 2010 – Day 1 Recap

Blog World Expo 2010

Nothing much happens on the first day of Blog World. The show floor won’t be opened until tomorrow so the only action are the sessions and panels. This year’s Blog Worlds looks quite a bit bigger than last. It’s pretty clear to me that the recession hasn’t slow the growth of blogging or social media in any way. For 2010, Blog World moved from the Las Vegas Convention Center to Manderlay Bay and I say it was a good move. The LVCC is way too big a place to hold Blog World.

The wireless at the show is very hit and miss. Depending on the number of people logged on, the speed range from slow to I can’t log on at all. I’m writing this recap from the free Internet in my room, which is wired only. The Luxor still lives in 1996 and doesn’t have wireless Internet. I feel sorry for anyone that has a Macbook Air.

This is the first Blog World where I will attempt to cover the show with an Apple iPad only. I think it will make for a good experiment. The iPad is so light and portable, it’s a natural trade show device. I’m seeing them all over the Expo.

There is a party tonight at Liquid Pool Lounge at ARIA Resort and Casino at CityCenter. I won’t be going because I have a private dinner to attend. However, if past shows are any indication, I won’t be missing much. Blog World has a ways to go before they can start matching the parties thrown at the Affiliate Summit.

The Blog World Lunch

The Blog World lunch is open to all full access pass holders and featured a three course meal that started OK then went completely downhill. The steak was dry and tasteless and had no seasoning at all. Luckily, future lunches are in the form of $20 coupons to be used at a few of the hotel restaurants.
