Eating with John Chow – Ajisen Ramen

Ajisen Ramen is a Japan-based chain of fast food restaurants selling Japanese ramen noodle soup dishes. The company’s logo, featuring artwork of a little girl named Chii-Chan, can be found on their stores and products.

Ajisen has outlets in Japan, Australia, Canada, China, Guam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and the United States. We went for lunch at the Irvine location in the Diamond Jamboree Plaza.

The Diamond Jamboree location is always packed with hungry diners. Every time we went there, we had to take a number and wait for at least 15 minutes. The restaurant will not sit you unless everyone in your party is present.

Getting a table is well worth the wait. Ajisen makes some of the best ramen in the city. The both is full of flavor and the pork is super tender. Well, it would be if I had ordered the pork ramen like I’ve always done in the past. Instead, I tried their veggie ramen this time, which isn’t 100% vegetarian since the soup is made from pork. It was still very good.

With locations all over the world, there’s sure to be a Ajisen near you. If you have a hankering for great tasting ramen, give Ajisen a try.
