Unlike Starbucks, Old Town White Coffee is more than just a coffee shop. They offer a full menu of food items as well. However, it’s their white coffee that made them famous.
Old Town White Coffee is the largest coffee shop chain in Malaysia. They operates 237 locations, of which 207 outlets are located in Malaysia, ten outlets in Singapore, 16 in Indonesia and four outlets in China. If they ever decided to expand into the US, like 85C did, they will do extremely well.
What Is White Coffee?
In Asia, white coffee is used to refer to regular black coffee that has had milk, cream or some other “whitener” added to it, though the term is almost entirely unheard of in the US. Cream varieties can be made of dairy milk, corn syrup derivatives, soy, or nut products. Sweeteners used include cane sugar or artificial ingredients.
White coffee should be distinguished from café au lait, in that white coffee uses chilled or room-temperature milk or other whitener, while café au lait uses heated or steamed milk.
Old Town White Coffee can be enjoyed 11 different ways. You can have the coffee as hot, cold, or freezy. I didn’t try the freezy, but I enjoyed both the hot and cold white coffee. I preferred the hot coffee more.
In addition to the coffee, Old Town offers multiple set menus of traditional Malaysian food. Sally really like the super thick garlic toast.
