Some people will tell you that just about all the affiliate networks on the Internet today are fundamentally the same thing and you should just pick the one that offers the biggest payouts. What these people don’t recognize is the importance of having great service (for both publishers and advertisers) and how a serious attention to detail can mean the difference between an incredibly lucrative partnership and one that is just wasting everyone’s time.
If you’re into affiliate marketing and you want to work with big brands like Macy’s, GoDaddy and Toys R Us, then you might want to take a look at BlackFox, the “performance network” that is the focus of today’s review. Let’s get started.
Delivering Real Results
Aiming to provide real results for affiliates and advertisers alike, BlackFox covers the usual array of CPA, CPL and CPS based offers from a variety of industry verticals.
From the perspective of the affiliate, BlackFox brings several advantages to the table compared to other networks. Yes, they’ll help you monetize your social audience with relevant high-paying offers and unlike some other networks that take a little too long to send the cash your way, BlackFox promises to pay you on time, every time.
You don’t have to wait 60 days for that commission check to come rolling through. Working with your affiliate manager, you can get payments issued as quickly as within five days. It depends “on the amount of traffic you can deliver.”
Typical affiliates start on the monthly payment for accumulated commissions of $100 and can ramp up to weekly payments if you can generate $5,000 in revenue. Do well for the network and the advertiser, and they’ll return the favor in kind. Payments are available via check, bank wire, Payoneer and PayPal.
The Affiliate Dashboard
After signing up for your affiliate account with BlackFox, you can sign into the usual dashboard to enter the rest of your details, review your stats, and browse through the 1,500+ offers.
This layout and design should feel very familiar to veteran affiliate marketers, as BlackFox is based on the HasOffers platform. The usual suite of reports–performance reports, conversion reports, and referral reports–can be accessed here.
As far as the dashboard itself is concerned, you’ll find the primary navigation in the left sidebar, along with some quick stats and notifications on the main page. The contact information for your personal account manager can be found in the sidebar as well and this is the person you’ll want to work with to maximize your traffic, maximize your revenue, and expedite your payments.
It is also important to note that BlackFox will be more selective with the affiliates that it approves. We hear that less than 10% of applications are given the green light.
Over 1,500 Affiliate Offers
To date, there are over 1,500 offers in the BlackFox portfolio and this number continues to grow. You can browse and search through the entire library through your affiliate dashboard.
There is the regular search and advanced search, as well as the option to filter based on category and country. The resulting list shows you the ID, name, payout, 7-day EPC, countries and categories of each offer. That’s useful for browsing, but there is a significant shortcoming that I hope BlackFox addresses.
While you can filter the offers and you can resort the list based on ID or name, there does not appear to be an option to sort the resulting list based on payout or 7-day EPC. As an affiliate, it’s always useful to look for offers that either have higher payouts or better performance on the network. It can be very time-consuming to sift through over 100 pages of offers.
Clicking on any individual offers gives you the link to preview the landing page and it’s also here that you can request approval. Certain offers are open to all publishers, but many do require this second level of advertiser approval.
A Clever Network with Clever People
It’s true that BlackFox is relatively new to the game, having only been incorporated in 2012, but this network has grown tremendously in the last couple of years and they’re truly leveraging the experience of everyone on board to continue building on that success. There’s a zero tolerance policy for shady offers and they work hard to develop a sense of community too.
The offers look solid and the payment schedule is certainly appealing too. I would like to see further documentation through the main part of the site for people who are thinking of joining BlackFox, though, as there are questions that are left unanswered. As private network that is selective with both its advertisers and affiliates, it’s clear enough that BlackFox is about developing long-term relationships with clever, successful people.
